With spring having sprung, the automotive industry always manages to somehow focus on鈥ou guessed it鈥roptops. This year will mark the debut of some quality examples from this automotive genre. We鈥檝e already touched on BMW鈥檚 new Z4, a nicely done update to their previous two-seater with a folding hardtop and a pair of smooth and powerful inline-6 cylinder engines available. Infinity, who has been targeting BMW for several years now, is releasing a retractable hardtop version of its G37 coupe, due out June 19th. This would be a competitor to BMW鈥檚 3-series convertible. The G37 convertible has nice power, decent looks with the typical Infinity design language and is overall a quality piece. It is a bit more on the GT side as opposed to sports car though, as the convertible is 453 pounds heavier than its coupe counterpart due to the top mechanisms and extra structure bracing throughout. Trunk space with the top stowed also gets a worse than average score. Another new competitor in this class would be Audi鈥檚 new A5 and S5 cabriolets, coming to dealers this fall. Audi decided to buck the trend and stay with a folding cloth top for this one, sighting weight and space-saving reasons. These cars are stunners, like their coupe counterparts, and have the excellent Audi interiors as well. With an easily best in class top-down trunk space, Quattro all-wheel drive and a sporty driving experience, these Audis will make a compelling choice. Introducing the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder鈥?Italian rocket-ship looks and a 560 horsepower V-10 engine a few inches behind your head. Need we say more..?
The VW also comes with a three-year warranty, a lot less than the seven-year package offered with the Kia. Euro NCAP awarded the up! 2012, but it鈥檚 missing AEB next to the Kia here (it鈥檚 拢380) and has two fewer airbags. A reversing camera is 拢240 and parking sensors are 拢300 as part of the Cruise and Park Pack. All are standard on the Kia. Insurance will be a key consideration for many city car buyers, but for our example driver there is little difference between these models, which both sit in group 10: the Volkswagen costs 拢361, the Kia 拢364 a year. Still, for company car drivers, lower CO2 emissions of 96g/km mean the up! 20 per cent Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) bracket, so lower-rate earners will pay 拢527 a year in company car tax with the Volkswagen. The Picanto costs 拢696 a year, yet offers more standard kit. This offsets the VW鈥檚 higher fuel bills, based on our average test economy on test.
First place: Volkswagen up! It鈥檚 also more comfortable and more spacious inside than the Picanto, and great fun to drive as well. If this is a priority, the Kia will be a better buy, but the VW fits more buyers鈥?needs more of the time. All that stands between this turbo version of the Picanto and a road test win against the up! It features a potent and really enjoyable engine and it鈥檚 great fun to drive. The Kia is also loaded with standard kit, is more economical and has a bigger boot. It鈥檚 just a shame that it鈥檚 pricey on PCP finance and isn鈥檛 as comfortable or as spacious inside as the Volkswagen. Is it worth waiting for this model? Hyundai is planning a revamped i10, previewed in our exclusive image, and it鈥檚 set to arrive next year. Expect updated infotainment and more efficient engines, although there鈥檚 no news on a turbocharged motor - yet.
630 in this case mean? What if 630 was 340 instead? I've searched and searched and can't find a thread or information on the web about my code. Trying to order interior leather seat covers for my 1987 911 Targa. Guards Red with (WHITE??) intetior. I know the L80K is guards red. But what is the NK in '87? I don't see an "NK" interior code in the 87-89 PET. The color codes and interior codes are different things. The interior code defines both the color and the material. The color code just defines the color. What shows up in PET is not what was used on the order sheets. Funny, my code says LN and it is dark burgundy interior for '87 Carrera. Yes, LN was dark burgundy leather. It's always helpful to know the year of your car, so we don't have to look at every interior code that Porsche ever used. Might be Silk Grey.
