The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is a full-size, Alabama-built sport utility offering three-row seating and a 7,500-pound towing capacity. 100,000 either with options or as the base price for the performance-oriented AMG model. The GL-Class is closely related to the five-passenger GLE-Class (formerly the ML), which is also built in Alabama, but it adds an extra row of seating and about a foot more length. After a 2014 redesign and a new engine option for 2015, the 2016 GL gets no changes of note.

Clambering over moss-clad stones and slogging down slippery embankments, we slowly meander onward, turbo spool and throaty exhaust notes the only noises to be heard over the clattering of limestone beneath our wheels. Naturally, we ignored hater and disbeliever alike, testing the G550 4x4虏 as both a daily driver and as a mudslinging, Biturbo steamroller. Built to be about as badass and brutish as it gets, the last hoorah for the outgoing generation of the G-Wagen is an exercise in extremism and simplicity. Loaded with cabin opulence and reinforced with Unimog underpinnings, this demilitarized G-Wagen is arguably one of the most rewarding trucks money can buy -- assuming one has a whole heck of a lot of it.
