As a result, the feedback signal from the valve to the engine control module (ECM) may fail. As a consequence, the EGR valve may be switched-off and the vehicles will experience a loss of power and enter a limp home mode. In addition, certain software parameters in the ECM may not respond properly to brief control deviations of the EGR valve position.
