Subcompact Luxury:2023 BMW X3 review

Subcompact Luxury: 2023 BMW X3 Review

The BMW X3 is one of the most popular models in the subcompact luxury SUV segment, and for good reasons. The 2023 X3 offers a blend of performance, refinement, and practicality that appeals to a wide range of buyers. Whether you are looking for a sporty and agile crossover, a spacious and comfortable family hauler, or a tech-savvy and stylish vehicle, the X3 has something for you.

The 2023 X3 comes in two main trim levels: the sDrive30i and the M40i. The sDrive30i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available as an option. The M40i gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that pumps out 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned suspension.

Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers smooth and quick shifts. The X3 also features a driving mode selector that lets you choose between Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, and Adaptive settings. The Eco Pro mode optimizes fuel efficiency by adjusting the throttle response, transmission shift points, and climate control settings. The Comfort mode provides a balanced ride quality and performance. The Sport mode sharpens the steering, suspension, and engine response for more dynamic driving. The Adaptive mode automatically adjusts to your driving style and road conditions.

The X3 is not only powerful but also fuel-efficient. According to the EPA estimates, the sDrive30i achieves 25 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while the M40i gets 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. These are impressive numbers for a subcompact luxury SUV with such potent engines.

The X3 also impresses with its handling and steering. The X3 feels stable and composed on twisty roads, thanks to its well-tuned chassis and suspension. The steering is precise and responsive, giving you a good sense of control and feedback. The X3 also has a strong braking system that provides confident stopping power.

The X3 is not only fun to drive but also comfortable to ride in. The cabin is spacious and quiet, with plenty of headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. The seats are supportive and adjustable, with optional leather upholstery and heating functions. The cargo space is generous as well, with 28.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 62.7 cubic feet with them folded down.

The X3 also comes with a long list of standard and optional features that enhance its convenience and safety. The standard features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB ports, navigation, a 12-speaker sound system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a power liftgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, LED headlights and taillights, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

The optional features include a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a head-up display, wireless charging, gesture controls,
