Interior - Front Seat Backrest Hard To Recline SI M 52 02 06 Seats July 2006 Technical Service SUBJECT Front Seat Backrest Difficult to Recline MODEL R50 (Cooper), R52 (Cooper Convertible), R53 (Cooper S) SITUATION After operating the front seat easy entry feature, the seat backrest is difficult to recline to its original position. This may also occur while the customer is sitting in the front seat and tries to recline the backrest. CAUSE The easy entry mechanism in the front seat may not have a sufficient amount of lubrication. CORRECTION In case of a customer complaint, a grease should be applied to both front seat easy entry mechanisms. PROCEDURE Recline the front seat completely to allow access to the easy entry mechanism. Locate the area on the seat where the mechanism can be accessed.
