2020 Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe Is An Instant Classic

2020 Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe Is An Instant Classic

All C-Class sedans come to the United States with Bluetooth connectivity; a power sunroof; dual-zone climate control; power windows/locks/mirrors; a leather-wrapped steering wheel; power front seats; and cruise control. AMG C43 models now come standard with a Burmester surround sound system. LED taillights match up with standard LED headlights and available multi-beam units. And it’s not like Mercedes didn’t have enough competition from BMW and Lexus, because the E-Class was still in the top 5 with 51,312 units sold. The next problem is with the front headlight units each time a blubs blows, it fuses everything including wires together requiring the replacement of the entire headlight unit. It’s void of a Mercedes emblem, but that has been replaced with a unit mounted to the hood. It’s appropriate for a sport sedan, which you’ll be in once you choose the AMG C43 or C63 twins. The AMG C43? It's not just on par with the mid-range BMW and Audi offerings, it's crisp and clean and delightfully unfiltered when it ditches the autobahn for the back roads.

Mercedes-Benz Biome
There's barely a noticeable lift from more powerful twin-turbo V-6 in the AMG C43, either. The muted engine note balances exhaust and induction sounds without revealing too much of the V-6 roots; the AMG whuffle’s a classic soundtrack for what it can do with its standard rear-wheel drive. The AMG C43 edition puts a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 on the table. That would be the C63 edition. In our most recent drives of the AMG-engineered C63 S Coupe, we found they have even better steering thanks to a wider track and retuned power assist with real heft. The C63 powers the rear wheels, as nature intended. The coupes have a similar front end, but a more bulbous rear quarter and a higher, upswept beltline that culminates in a fastback rear window. It did get most things right with this version, and with some softer seats and a little more steering feel, it would have an even better car.
On the highway, an available feature directs your car to automatically change lanes when you engage the turn signal, as long as the neighboring lane is clear. There’s not one we’d turn down for a drive, though the warm fuzzy feelings obviously grow warmer and fuzzier with the AMG badges. All AMG models now get 64-color interior ambient lighting. We think that’s worth at least a 7 for performance, with AMG versions dialing that upward. The most popular car, and the one that’s the star of all those lease special ads you’ve heard on the radio, is the 255-hp C300. The rear fascia, decklid, and even the rear trim still remain the same compared to the last prototype we laid eyes on, but the taillights are new, and that’s a big deal. The headlights on this mule are the same as those on the other two prototypes we’ve seen, but this will undoubtedly get a new layout by the time Mercedes fires up the production line.
In higher-output S editions, it’s good for 503 hp, 516 lb-ft, a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds, and a 155-mph top speed. So, last time we were here, the C-Class was sporting an old grille, old headlight units, and a janky prototype bumper that left more to the imagination that it did hint at future design. Further evidence that outright practicality isn’t a leading priority for C-Class fans, the 455L boot space is useable if hardly class-leading in outright volume. Where Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Built? The rounded roofline attaches those pillars in a smooth curvature that emphasizes how low to the ground the Mercedes-Benz C300 is. Powering the 2014-2016 Mercedes-Benz C300 Sport is a 241 hp 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes the Mercedes-Benz C300 Sport an adrenaline rush to drive. Mercedes sells the C-Class with a choice of four different engines and outputs, with a steel or an air suspension, with rear- or all-wheel drive. The C-Class sedan, coupe and convertible are available in five flavors. Regardless of the drivetrain combination, the C300 convertible is rated at 21/29 mpg.
Besides three available styles as in W203 and W204, this model can be obtained in the form of a 2-door convertible (or Carbiolet) as well. And it can add torque to driver inputs to help steer out of an imminent collision. Check out BestRide’s listings search here. It's difficult to spec out a 2019 C-Class that fails to please on some level. But my contention remains that, if you want to make a statement these days, get a coupe -- no, not one of those weird, tall crossover-based monsters the German automakers can't stop making, but a real, car-based two-door coupe -- and this Mercedes C300 in particular stands out in the present sea of blobmobiles. Expect to make slightly more trips to the shop with a C300, but for minor issues. When more than medium power is required-including every highway on-ramp-it routinely switches on the engine. The updates bring a lot of style to the little C300 and a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine adds some pep too.

Mercedes-Benz C300

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class provides an affordable path to Mercedes-Benz ownership without sacrificing the appeal of the brand's imagery and stylish appearance. Like every Mercedes-Benz, the C-Class comes equipped with what may well be the brand's most desirable feature--the three-pointed star.

Mercedes-Benz introduced the C-Class in 1994 as a replacement for the 190E, the original "Baby Benz." A much more contemporary automobile, the new compact sedan was styled to resemble the brand's premium offerings, and it offered more interior space than its predecessor. Engine choices included a 2.2-liter four and a 2.8-liter six.

While the performance of the new C-Class wasn't in the same league as a top-of-the-line 3 Series BMW, it carried the Mercedes prestige. And with the introduction of a 302-horsepower, V-8-equipped AMG version in 1995, it got some ponies to go with that prestige.

The second version of the C-Class landed in U.S. showrooms in time for the 2001 model year. A number of new versions were added to the lineup, including a C320 wagon and a supercharged C230 Kompressor coupe. Mercedes' proven 4Matic all-wheel drive system was offered on sedans and wagons, and the AMG C55 got a 362-horsepower V-8.

Completely redesigned for the 2008 model year, today's C-Class automobile looks even more like the pricier Mercedes models than did the previous C-Class automobiles. Horsepower numbers have gone upscale as well, with the standard offering producing 228 horsepower. Continuing a segmentation that began with the first C Class, the car is now available in Sport and Luxury versions, broadening its market coverage. The AMG version is now even more potent, with a 451-horsepower V-8 putting it into the same league as the M3 BMW--fast company indeed.
