Window Seal Cleaning Procedure
2000 Mercedes Benz Truck ML 55 AMG (163.174) V8-5.5L (113.981) 323
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of peeling or discoloring window seals, this may happen due to high sun exposure.
Instead of replacing the window seals perform the following cleaning procedure to resolve.
1. Clean the window and door area with soap and water.
2. Mask off the painted areas around the affected seals.
3. Clean the rubber seal with a cloth towel and lacquer thinner. It may be necessary to use fine steel wool for stubborn areas.
4. When all the coating is cleaned off the rubber seal, wipe the seal down to remove all remaining residue.
5. Treat the rubber seal with sliding compound A000 989 36 60.
Note:
Always perform this procedure on all four doors for consistency in appearance.
