The GTS variants get a 15 horsepower power upgrade over the S models. Total power is 365 hp, which is 35 hp more than the previous generation GTS models with naturally aspirated flat-six engines. The 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four gets this power boost thanks to a newly developed intake duct and an optimized turbocharger. As always, the cars are available with a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. The PDK will no doubt be faster, but the manual will offer better driver engagement. The GTS cars will also have a host of standard features that are optional on S models.

These include the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical rear differential lock, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The quickest GTS models will be equipped with the PDK transmission, and will hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and reach a 180 mph top speed. This is quicker and faster than the S models, which can hit 6- mph in 4.2 seconds and reach 177 mph. The GTS models are only marginally faster than the S, but also come with some styling differences. GTS models will have a new Sport Design apron at the front as well as the signature blacked out headlights for this trim level.

This Is Our First Look At The Porsche 718 Cayman T

Applying the same winning formula of the 911 T to the 718 Cayman.

What began as a rumor was then confirmed by Porsche who admitted a 718 Cayman T was in development. Like the acclaimed 911 T, the 718 Cayman T will focus on shedding weight and delivering a more driver-focused feel. Sort of a back to basics mentality, at least for Porsche. Today, our spy photographers have snapped the first images of the 718 Cayman T out testing on the roads around and at the Nurburgring. Although Porsche has yet to confirm it, sources claim deliveries will get underway sometime in the first half of 2019.

The Cayman T will be slotted directly in between the Cayman S and GTS in terms of pricing and overall driving experience. Behind the driver and passenger seats will sit the familiar turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine which in the S trim produces 350 hp and in GTS form 365 hp. Figure around the 360 hp mark for the T.

Porsche is being Porsche when it comes to making the car lightweight, utilizing thinner glass, sports seats and those nifty fabric door pulls in place of traditional handles. Future Of The Porsche 718 Boxster And Cayman Isn’t Looking Too Good

Stay calm, at least the 911 isn’t going anywhere.

Subaru and Toyota or Mazda and Fiat. What do these automakers have in common? The fact that each has paired with the other to develop small sports coupes that would be too expensive for a single brand to justify building all on its own. One would think that an automaker that made its name on the back of iconic sports coupes wouldn’t face the same issue because it would be used to the trickle of sales the segment generates, but according to Automobile, that’s not the case for Porsche.

Porsche became the famed automaker it is today all thanks to the 911. It later began offering a distilled version of its performance car, the Cayman and Boxster, in order to take a larger share of the performance market. But now, Porsche is reportedly considering dropping the axe on both models. The Boxster was originally released in 1996 and was followed by the Cayman in 2005, but as compact sports car sales continue to dwindle, 718 Cayman and Boxster engineers in Weissach may soon lose their power to convince the bean counters to keep going. Before you pick up pitchforks and go after wealthy sports car-averse SUV buyers, keep in mind that Porsche’s crossroads decision can’t only be chalked up to poor sales.

The other factor behind the squeeze on the 718s comes from the regulatory side. With governments around the world requiring the next generation of cars to emit far fewer pollutants than they do now, Porsche faces the challenge of making the 718's successor both fuel efficient and fun, and pulling both off is not exactly cheap. Fortunately, Porsche does have other options to consider before it decides to kill the 718 twins off entirely. It could keep the current cars alive and continue to keep dealerships stocked with 718s by supplying minor or major revamps based on the current hardware, or it could go the expensive route and build an entirely new electric sports car based on a shorter version of the Mission E Platform.

The scenario we like best, however, is if Porsche were to decide to team up with its sibling Audi to share costs on a small sports car the way Subaru and Toyota did with the BRZ and GT 86. Whichever ends up happening, at least we know the 911 isn't going anywhere.
