Campaign - Check Coolant Hose And Replace If Necessary
SI B17 04 10
Cooling Systems
October 2010
Technical Service
PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS SERVICE INFORMATION ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES THE NEXT TIME THEY
ARE IN THE SHOP FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS OR PRIOR TO DELIVERY.
SUBJECT
Service Action: Check Coolant Hose and Replace if Necessary
MODEL
E89, E90, E92 and E93 vehicles produced from 07/23/2010 to 07/30/2010
SITUATION
The vent hole of the coolant hose coupling, located on the driver's side of the radiator, may be blocked.
This blockage will prevent the cooling circuit from venting properly into the expansion tank.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves E89, E90, E92 and E93 vehicles which were produced from 07/23/2010 to 07/30/2010.
In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Service Action completed or is affected by this Service Action, first check the B-pillar
label for code number 576. If code number 576 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 576 has not been
punched out, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the
response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.
CORRECTION
Check the date code on the coolant hose coupling and replace the hose if necessary.
PROCEDURE
Blocked couplings were manufactured on 7/15/2010. Check the date code on the coupling (stamped on the left side of the coupling when looking
2010 BMW 328i Sedan (E90) L6-3.0L (N51)   33
down at the hose from the front of the vehicle) and if the date code is 100715, replace the coolant hose. Refer to Repair Instruction RA 17 00 005 for
replacing the coolant hose.
PARTS INFORMATION
LABEL INSTRUCTIONS
This Service Action has been assigned code number 576. After the vehicle has been checked and/or corrected, obtain a label (SD 92-???) and:
A. Emboss your BMW center warranty number in the middle of the label (1);
B. Punch out code number 576 (2), printed on the label; and
C. Affix the label to the B-pillar as shown.
If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on
top of another one, because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched-out hole of the new label.
