P0472 Exhaust Pressure Sensor Low

P0472 is an OBD-II diagnostic trouble code that indicates there is a problem with the exhaust pressure sensor circuit. Specifically, it means that the signal from the exhaust pressure sensor is reading lower than expected.

The exhaust pressure sensor is an important component of the exhaust system. It is responsible for measuring the pressure in the exhaust system and sending that information to the engine control module (ECM). The ECM uses this information to adjust the fuel injection and timing to ensure the engine runs efficiently.

When the P0472 code is set, it can indicate a number of potential problems, including a faulty sensor, a short circuit in the wiring, or a problem with the ECM.

To diagnose and repair this issue, a mechanic will likely perform the following steps:

  1. Use an OBD-II scanner to read the code and determine the underlying cause of the issue.
  2. Inspect the wiring and connections around the exhaust pressure sensor to check for any loose connections, frayed wires, or damage.
  3. If no issues are found with the wiring, replace the exhaust pressure sensor itself.
  4. Clear the code and test drive the vehicle to ensure that the issue has been resolved.
