2019 Porsche Macan Road Test

When Porsche launched their first SUV back in 2004, brand loyalists howled. The idea that a carmaker rooted in building finely crafted, uncompromising sports cars would dilute the brand DNA with something so suburban and mainstream was simply too much for Porsche purists to bear. Fast forward a decade: The midsized Cayenne SUV is now Porsche's top-selling model and more than a few of those loyalists have found room for one alongside the 911 in their garage. More importantly, it opened the Porsche brand to a new breed of customer who never previously would have considered Stuttgart steel. With the Macan compact crossover, Porsche has broadened their SUV catalog. Targeted at competitors like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC, the Macan leans more toward sport than utility in the SUV equation. With handling, acceleration, and braking performance that put most sports sedans to shame, the Macan is easily the most thrilling SUV we've tested. The 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 in our Macan S delivers effortless power, mated to an automated manual transmission that fires off quick, decisive shifts punctuated by a race-ready exhaust bark. The BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and Lexus NX don't even come close to that thrust.

For all its commitment to performance, the Macan still manages to deliver a measure of utility. Standard all-wheel drive and all-season tires make it a viable four-season vehicle, and the split-folding rear seats add cargo versatility. There's room for five friendly passengers in the quiet, luxurious, and impeccably finished interior, with comfortable and well-shaped seats up front. So, what's not to like? The Macan doles out rear seat room with the frugality of the Bundesbank. The same goes for the cargo area. Visibility is limited by a small rear window. As you would expect for a sports-car-meets-SUV, fuel economy is a thirsty 19 mpg overall. The Macan doesn't come cheap. Then again, what did you expect? It's a Porsche. Although the Macan has a base price a few pfennigs shy of 50 large, it is pretty much impossible to find one so equipped on dealer lots. 63,290 -- considerably more than any of its competitors. Adding a few options can drive up the price almost as quickly as the Macan accelerates. Even something as basic as a rear camera, standard on many mainstream cars, is a pricey option on the Macan. Still, if you categorize the Macan as a high-performance, all-wheel-drive hatchback, rather than a weekend workhorse for lumber runs, it is a very appealing, albeit pricey, package. And compared to some other Porsche models, it may even be something of a relative bargain.

Senior car industry figures were in London last week for the annual two-day Financial Times Future of the Car Summit. But when it came to the crunch question on whether he was aware that talks had taken place between PSA and JLR鈥檚 current owner Tata, Speth鈥檚 response was limp at best. There is an increasing belief that JLR might well benefit from a switch of owner. Acquisition by PSA would lead to a brutal period of cost-cutting, for sure, but it could deliver profits for Jaguar and Land Rover just as quickly as the rapid turnaround delivered at Opel and Vauxhall during the past 18 months. A PSA deal - or, for that matter, a switch to ownership by a major Chinese manufacturer - would also open Jaguar and Land Rover to a wider pool of technologies than either brand presently gets from Tata. Discovery Sport now, at launch, instead of in six or nine months鈥?time. If anything, though, Speth鈥檚 attitude to partnerships with other brands was what drew the deepest gasps at the FT Summit. 鈥淵ou can talk about economies of scale and that鈥檚 correct,鈥?he said, 鈥渂ut on the other hand, there鈥檚 the freedom we have to develop and do our own strategy in a fast way, a structured way. His dedication to independence is admirable, in a way. But with car makers facing huge bills for developing EV technology, it鈥檚 hard to find anyone in the industry who thinks that JLR鈥檚 relative isolation makes any sense at all. Do you think Jaguar Land Rover could benefit from a change of owner?

Geely has taken a 50 per cent stake in the Smart city car brand from parent company Daimler, it has been confirmed. The pair will build a new generation of all-electric Smart models by 2022, with production taking place at Geely鈥檚 purpose-built factory in China. As part of its expansion strategy, Geely and Daimler will also broaden the Smart range into the B-segment market, producing a premium rival for the Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Polo and Audi A1 Sportback, it has emerged. Until 2022, Daimler will continue to build the current Smart EQ ForTwo and EQ ForFour at its facilities in Hambach, France and Novo Mesto, Slovenia respectively. From 2022 Daimler鈥檚 Hambach plant will begin construction of a new EQ-branded compact electric car, following a 鈧?00 million investment by Mercedes-Benz. Daimler鈥檚 Chairman of the Board, Dieter Zetsche, said: 鈥淲e look forward to further enhancing the brand with Geely Holding, a strong partner in the electric vehicle segment. Geely鈥檚 new partnership with Daimler Auto Group follows its recent 拢6.4 billion investment in the German company. Over the last decade, Geely has taken total financial control of Volvo, Polestar, the London Taxi Company, Lynk & Co and Yuan Cheng Auto, as well as partially financial control of Proton and Lotus.

The Audi SQ5 has done rather well for itself scoring positive points in most reviews. Seen as how it鈥檚 a fast, techy and practical SUV, its success is easy to comprehend. It all starts with the 3.0-liter TFSI V6 unit underneath the hood, sending 354 PS to all four wheels, along with 500 Nm of torque. It can hit 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, and 96 km/h in 5.1 seconds. However, where some see handsomeness and elegance in its subdued looks, others see the need for something more accute. It鈥檚 not a bad-looking SUV, but it won鈥檛 get your attention either, unlike this version by Lumma Design. The tuner gave the SQ5 a more expressive attire, thanks to the addition of the CLR 5S body kit. It consists of a front spoiler extension, wheel arch extensions front and rear, integrated side skirt under-splitters, rear skirt extension, custom diffuser, custom door paneling, square exhaust pipes with the Lumma logo, custom wheels and an optional rear spoiler lip. All the parts are made from high quality PUR-RIM plastics and help give this SQ5 a considerably more menacing stance, from all angles.

Another part would be the brand name of each car. Add to that the power of the engines, and the style of the cars, and you have the reason for the expensive price tags.

The 2019 Porsche Cayman gets a new exterior color, Satin Metal Grey Metallic. Additionally, hatchback models at the moment are out there with the diesel engine. The 2019 Porsche Cayman acquired a 5-star overall security ranking from the NHTSA (out of a potential 5 stars). In IIHS evaluations, the 2019 Porsche Cayman Interior, Exterior and Review has only been examined in facet and reasonable front overlap influence checks the place it received a Good rating (Good is the very best doable score). It additionally obtained a Primary rating on the IIHS鈥?entrance crash prevention test for having an accessible ahead collision warning system (Superior is the highest rating for the entrance crash prevention take a look at). That is the story of the new 2019 Porsche Cayman, really. It鈥檚 full of options and demonstrates a sophisticated mechanical prowess, but it surely鈥檚 specific about issues. It鈥檚 clinical and exact, in some methods to a fault, but balanced with apparent worth and features. Like the hit man, the 2019 Porsche Cayman isn鈥檛 any nonsense up entrance, but there鈥檚 an underlying warmth and desire to please when you get to comprehend it.

Imagine plaid seats in a European car with a liftgate and you might start spelling out the letters V-O-L in your mind. It is a signature trait on the Volkswagen Golf GTI, after all. But there鈥檚 another model from another automaker that鈥檚 bringing the option to America. When Volvo revealed the new V60 wagon, it showcased it with a plaid upholstery option. The assumption was that the option wouldn鈥檛 make it to America. But as AutoGuide points out that, the option has now been added to the US configurator. Called 鈥淏lond City Weave Textile Upholstery,鈥?it adds a modern plaid pattern to the seats and door panels, complemented by beige leather trim. Looks pretty stylish to us. Customers can alternatively opt for black, tan, medium brown, or dark brown leather. What鈥檚 more is that the tartan trim can only be had on the Momentum model. The luxed-up Inscription trim comes only with leather, though the choices broaden here to include perforated Nappa leather as well. What鈥檚 surprising is that the lower-level XC40 - the first model in the new entry-level series - can鈥檛 be had with the plaid option. Only leather. But the red hide looks rather tantalizing to our eyes. Nor can you get the tartan upholstery on the XC60, which is positioned alongside the V60 in Volvo鈥檚 latest mid-level lineup. Both the Momentum and Inscription versions of the new V60 come, for the time being, only in T6 AWD trim. The 2.0-liter turbo four generates 306 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. That鈥檚 in the US. Overseas, buyers can also choose from the lower-level T5 model, with the same engine producing 247 hp and 350 Nm of torque, or from a pair of diesels. Expect either or both of the T6 and T8 鈥淭win-Engine鈥?AWD hybrids to follow, with electrically assisted versions of that same engine kicking out a combined 250 hp and 350 Nm or 299 hp and 400 Nm.

New 2019 Porsche Macan GTS

Those who prefer to blaze a trail of their own don鈥檛 need to follow the lead of others. We鈥檙e thinking specifically about cars known as compact SUVs, characterized by five doors, five seats, all-wheel drive - and, of course, a higher sitting position. But aren鈥檛 they lacking a certain something? Something that adds a little life, lets us enjoy a more intimate relationship with the road and delivers intense driving pleasure. A concept that boasts plenty of space for hobbies, leisure and sport. But no room for compromise. Compact, concentrated and intensive, but still powerful. Practical, but never ordinary. Porsche. Utterly unlike any vehicle you'll ever drive. And Porsche Centre Vancouver is like no other dealership you'll ever drive into. When it comes to the finest in workmanship, technology and exclusivity, you'll want to come to Porsche. So when it comes to buying or servicing your Porsche, we want you to come to Porsche Centre Vancouver. Our certified sales professionals, the most highly trained service technicians in the industry, and an ongoing commitment to customer care all set us apart from the crowd. The facility is centrally located at 688 Terminal Avenue near Main Street with ample customer parking, green rooftop areas and spectacular city views. Porsche Centre Vancouver is Vancouver's certified Porsche dealership and service centre owned and operated by Dilawri Group of Companies, Canada鈥檚 largest automotive group.

Masterfully blending luxury, sport and utility, each of the fierce competitors is brimming with technology and innovation, not to mention volumes of excess poundage. Realizing that weight is the Achilles heel in this segment, the team at Porsche decided to get up off the sofa and do something about the problem. Porsche's engineering team didn't just accept minor liposuction, they axed the fat off. The weight was shed from the body structure and wheels (lots more aluminum), but most of it was lifted when the Cayenne received a new electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system. All told, Porsche shaved roughly 400 pounds off the Cayenne's curb weight (yes, the weight loss works out to 4,177 Twinkies). On the scale, the new Cayenne S weighs 4,553 pounds while the Cayenne Turbo is 4,784 pounds. For comparison, the BMW X5 xDrive48i spins the dial to 5,335 pounds and the flagship X5 M simply flattens the gauge at 5,368 pounds. The Mercedes-Benz ML550 is 4,883 pounds, while the ML63 AMG weighs in at 5,093 pounds.

Low mass translates to better performance. Porsche says the 2011 Cayenne S model needs just 5.6 seconds to hit 60 mph (top speed is 160 mph) while the Turbo rockets to 60 mph in a conservative 4.4 seconds (top speed: 172 mph). Fuel economy numbers have not been released, but the automaker says we can expect double-digit percentage improvements. As previously mentioned, our introduction to the all-new Porsche Cayenne was, interestingly enough, at the racetrack. This is no ordinary circuit - Barber Motorsports Park is a huge racing facility just outside Birmingham, Alabama. Opened in 2003, it features a beautifully manicured 16-turn, 2.3-mile road course that shames our West Coast facilities (if the Four Seasons hotel chain inexplicably dove into auto racing, this would be its inaugural facility). In addition to the very visible main circuit, hidden within the surrounding woods are countless off-road courses on the 740-acre property, which provided plenty of mud, ruts, hills and water obstacles.

And yes, it's home to the Porsche Sport Driving School. We've driven the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG and BMW X5 M (and X6 M) on the track more than once. Although all were plenty fast, the excitement level of driving 2.5-ton SUVs, even those "race-prepared" models, around a road circuit is akin to shooting glass bottles with a Nerf gun. It simply doesn't get our adrenalin flowing. Minutes later, we are strapped into the bolstered front left seat of the Cayenne. Maneuvering through the corners, we expect body roll, squealing tires and understeer, but the Cayenne fails to deliver the bad news. Instead, it seems to land on its feet with the competence of a luxury sport sedan (it felt like we were driving a BMW 5 Series). Flat in the corners, the center of gravity feels two feet lower (it isn't) as we smoothly flow around the track. This is crazy; the Cayenne has forgotten that it is a sport utility vehicle.

2019 Macan Vs. 2019 Cayenne Comparison

Looking at the sizing and dimensions of these two Porsche SUVs, you鈥檒l notice some distinctions. The nimble Macan has a lower curb weight, shorter exterior length, and a shorter body height than its larger sibling. The Cayenne has nearly 8 additional cubic feet of cargo space than the Macan. Both SUVs offer seating for up to 5 passengers. An integrated navigation system comes standard on both the Macan and Cayenne. Parking sensors are found as standard at the front and rear of both SUVs as well. If you鈥檙e the type of driver that lives an active lifestyle, the city-sized Porsche Macan proves to be an excellent choice for its turbocharged power delivery and responsive handling. For those who crave additional cargo and passenger capacity, the Porsche Cayenne makes an excellent companion for an extended weekend getaway. Sewickley Porsche invites you to come experience both the Macan and Cayenne to get a true sense of which one is a better fit for your lifestyle. Our team of friendly and knowledgeable Porsche Brand Ambassadors are ready to help you find the Macan or Cayenne of your dreams.

The system also helps drivers manoeuvre by themselves. Remote Park Assist's 3D Surround View display calculates a 360掳 view using four individual cameras to help with entering and leaving parking spaces and manoeuvring the car. One of the system's major innovations is the perspective-based, three-dimensional display. The manoeuvring assistant with its kerb alert helps prevent collisions in narrow manoeuvring situations where visibility is poor. The function is triggered automatically at speeds up to 10 km/h and displays the parking situation in 3D on the PCM's touch display. If there is a risk of a collision, there is a warning display on the PCM and, where necessary, a steering boost. If the Cayenne is being used for towing, the trailer manoeuvre assistance makes reverse parking much easier. Once the function is activated, all the driver needs to do is simply put the vehicle in reverse and accelerate gently. They can use the PCM's rotary adjuster to continually adjust the angle they would like to place the car in themselves. The image from the reverse camera on the PCM provides appropriate guide lines for orientation. The system activates the steering wheel itself and steers the trailer on the course selected by the driver. Two warning functions that enhance everyday safety significantly complete the package. The disembark warning indicates when cars are approaching from the rear as the door is opened. LEDs flash red in the interior door handles. The disembark warning remains in operation for another three minutes after the ignition is switched off. The function is also based on the sensors in the rear radar, like the exit warning. When parking assistance is activated, this gives a warning of other cars recognised as critical as the car emerges from a diagonal parking space, for example. The warning occurs on different levels - visually on the PCM display, acoustically and, where necessary, by brake shuddering.

2019 Porsche Macan Vs 2019 Porsche Macan

What are the differences between the 2019 Porsche Macan and 2018 Porsche Macan? While the 2019 and 2018 Porche Macan models share similar performance features, the 2019 Macan includes some new features that aren鈥檛 found in the 2018 model. New to the 2019 Macan is a GT sports steering wheel, Traffic Jam Assist with adaptive cruise control, standard LED lights, and a three-dimensional LED taillight strip. Both the 2018 and 2019 models feature an 11-inch touchscreen display to help you stay connected each time you get behind the wheel. You can fill your vehicle with crystal-clear sound thanks to the available BOSE® Surround Sound System and Burnmester® High-End Surround Sound System options. The Porche Connect app allows you to control the music streaming in your Macan so you hear exactly what you鈥檙e in the mood for. The 2019 Macan is available in two trim styles - Base and S - while the 2018 model is available in 5 different styles - Base, Sport Edition, S, GTS, and Turbo.

Beneath the skin of the up! Skoda Citigo and SEAT Mii cousins at launch in 2012. All three use the VW Group鈥檚 NSF (New Small Family) platform, which has MacPherson struts and a torsion-beam rear axle, like the Kia. The Volkswagen鈥檚 engine has 10bhp less than the Picanto here, at 89bhp, but the cars are otherwise very similar in design, with a five-speed manual transmission and five-door body style. 拢400, but that鈥檚 a small price to pay for the extra practicality of the additional doors. Sadly, the back windows are pop-out only, but you get electric windows in the Kia. The rest of the interior is impressive, though. The cloth seats are comfortable and compare well with the artificial leather in the Kia, while the dashboard looks more upmarket, too, thanks to its cleaner design. Key touch points, such as the steering wheel and gearlever, also feel slightly more premium.

But this top-spec up! 鈥檛 as well equipped as its competitor. It does without a touchscreen display completely, instead featuring a USB port and a holder for a smartphone. For most buyers that will be fine, but it means there鈥檚 no sat-nav for those people without a compatible phone. 15-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, Bluetooth and DAB radio, but it鈥檚 missing several items that are standard on the Kia; AEB, a reversing camera and cruise control are all optional. But then it鈥檚 cheaper and even after adding these features it still costs less. The driving experience has always been the VW鈥檚 strong point and it feels like a very polished product. Both the steering and gearshift are precise and light, while there鈥檚 plenty of grip, so it鈥檚 great fun whether you鈥檙e heading down a country road or just nipping to the shops. The ride is good for a small car and the up!

The suspension set-up is comfortable and only the wind and road noise are a hint that this is still a cheap car, because otherwise you might mistake the VW for a more expensive model from behind the wheel. It鈥檚 quieter than the Picanto and thanks to the turbo torque, refinement and decent tech, like the Kia, we wouldn鈥檛 shy away from a long journey in the up! The thrummy three-cylinder engine is another highlight, because it provides punchy performance and combines that with an entertaining soundtrack. But at our test track the VW trailed the Kia. The 0-60mph sprint took 10 seconds, which was 0.9 seconds behind the Picanto, and the up! 30-70mph through the gears as well; it posted a time of 10.8 seconds to the Kia鈥檚 9.6 seconds. The Volkswagen took 13.4 seconds to go from 50-70mph in fifth gear, while the Kia needed 10.3 seconds, which means the Picanto is more at home on the motorway, although the up!

At 251 litres, the Volkswagen鈥檚 boot is slightly smaller than its rival鈥檚, but neither car is really spacious when it comes to luggage capacity. A total of 959 litres with the rear seats folded down is helpful, although it still trails the Picanto here as well. The amount of space in the cabin is the VW鈥檚 strong point, because adults can easily fit in each of the four seats; headroom and legroom are both better than in the Kia. It feels lighter and more spacious inside, too, thanks to the design of the dashboard and the larger window area. However, there鈥檚 less in-cabin storage in the German hatch, because the Kia features larger cup-holders and a bigger front cubby, plus storage space by the handbrake that鈥檚 missing in the VW. Volkswagen came in fifth overall in our Driver Power 2018 satisfaction survey, which is a strong result. But its dealers have some way to go; they finished 18th, while Kia鈥檚 were seventh out of 28 marques.

2019 Porsche Macan

With the incredibly engaging Macan, Porsche proves that a crossover can drive like a sports car. Its spellbinding performance and unflappable poise are the primary reasons we named the 2018 model to our 10Best Trucks and SUVs list. Underneath its curvaceous shell are two available engines鈥攁 base 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder and a turbocharged V-6 making 348 horsepower in the S model. Every Macan is equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Sure, some competitors are more affordable and practical, but they don't cast a spell on their drivers in the same way that the Porsche does. It truly sets the bar for what crossovers can be. What's New for 2019? The 2019 Porsche Macan is updated for this year and features refreshed exterior styling that includes updated front and rear bumpers, new taillamps that span the width of the liftgate, and new wheel designs. If it were going in our driveway, we'd pick the Macan S. It's quick, fun to drive, and offers the best performance in the current 2019 Macan lineup.

Interior trim varies only a little from the entry-level Macan to the Macan S, so most of the cost bump between models is associated with changes to the powertrain and other mechanical equipment. Standard features in the Macan S include a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 10-speaker audio system, LED headlamps, and all-wheel drive. Likes: Quick as some two-door Porsches, sharp-shifting gearbox, responsive brake pedal. Dislikes: It's not quite a sports car. Quickness is important in a crossover with sporting intentions, but we wouldn't be nearly as impressed with the Macan if it weren't for its all-around competence on the road. The ride is wonderfully smooth and carefully controlled, and it's rare for a jolt from the road to make its way up through the cabin. The Macan's tenacious attitude in corners makes it feel stable and planted. The steering is a little lighter than in Porsche's sports cars, but still hyperaccurate and pleasantly tactile. You can drive this Macan hard, and it responds like a top-ranked sports sedan. The Macan's EPA ratings are very similar to those of its competitors, although a few rivals have better numbers on the highway.

Once we get the updated Macan and Macan S into our garage for testing, we'll send both on our 200-mile real-world fuel-economy test route to see how the EPA's ratings hold up under normal operating conditions. Likes: Upscale features and materials are available鈥攆or a price; more practical than Porsche's sports cars. Dislikes: Shrunken back seat, lacks standard luxuries, no Android Auto, limited carry-on capacity. The Macan's standard interior fittings are a disappointment in a crossover of this price and provenance, and it's expensive to outfit one in a manner that befits the Porsche crest. There's also less space for back-seat passengers in the Macan than in most competitors. The Macan's power-adjustable seats for the driver and front-seat passenger are the only pieces of standard interior equipment that feel even remotely luxurious. 2230 that Porsche asks for outlining just the front air vents in leather feels like price gouging, even for Porsche. Porsche's infotainment system can be had with all manner of high-tech features.

But, as with nearly everything on the Macan's equipment list, enjoying those features will cost you. USB ports and 12-volt outlets are sprinkled throughout the cabin, so driver and passengers alike should be able to keep their devices fully charged. With the standard mobile Wi-Fi package on board, the family data plan might be able to escape a road trip unscathed, too. A puny cargo hold and small interior cubbies make the Macan one of the least practical vehicles in this segment. But when has buying a Porsche ever been a rational choice? We fit six carry-on bags in the cargo bay and 16 with the rear seats folded, which should be enough for most people. The Macan hasn't been tested by either crash-test agency (nor has any other Porsche currently on sale, for that matter). The Macan can be had with a wide array of driver-assistance technology, but almost none of it is standard.

To that end, the steel forks that connect the spring and damper to the front-axle carrier were replaced with stiffer aluminum units that reduce unsprung weight slightly. The widths for 19- and 21-inch wheels increase a half-inch at the front for better turn-in, and it has newly developed tires. The Macan S gets slightly larger front rotors than before, while the actual brake pedal hardware has been redesigned for better feel. As before, the base Macan uses the same Audi A4-sourced 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which makes 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Previously, the Macan S used a Porsche-developed 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, but now, it's been replaced with an Audi-sourced single-turbo 3.0-liter V6 making 348 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. It's the same basic engine found in the base Cayenne and Panamera, as well as the Audi S4, S5, and SQ5, though it gets some software changes. Both engines are paired with Porsche's seven-speed PDK dual-clutch, which has been retuned to offer quicker shifts, and a fully variable all-wheel drive system.

My son is the buyer, consumer who bought a 2019 GTI S - I have been helping him work through this mess. My son is 25 and knows how to drive manual cars for 9 years. I experienced the stalls as well as I was test driving. I have 35 years of manual car driving experience, I have never owned anything except manual cars. Over the past 10 years, I have owned a 2001 Audi A4, 2003 Porsche 911 turbo, 2013 VW GTI, 2016 Porsche Cayman GTS. I have done numerous driving events at Road Atlanta and local Autocross. I have never seen an issue like this GTI stalling thing - really amazing to me. On March 30, my son bought a brand new 2019 GTI S, manual with 9 miles on the odometer. Within 2 days of driving, the car started experiencing stalling issues. Like most people, he thought he may have done something wrong or that he was unfamiliar with the clutch.

Dealer claims they checked VW service bulletins and whatever they use to research problems - claim there was zero documetation about a similar case, zero guidance. No fault codes were present. Over the couse of the next month, the dealer was also able to reproduce the stalls. They tried to replace a crankshaft sensor, replaced the engine wiring harness at the request of a regional tech. As the dealer test drove the car, ususally 40-75 miles each time, they could no longer reproduce the stalls. Each time they forced us to pickup the car - we demanded a tech test drive with us before we would accept the car back. Each time we test drove at low speed simulating stop and go traffic driving - the car stalled. We proved the stalls 3x with service techs in the car after each attempted fix. VW Corporate bought back the car, that is being finalized now. I have documentation to support all of this.

2019 Porsche Macan Preview

Like the Cayenne before it, the Macan has been a huge hit for Porsche. It鈥檚 the marque鈥檚 most popular model, with more than 97,000 delivered in 2017 alone. Having been introduced for 2015, the Macan is now at the midway point in its life cycle, and to keep sales brimming Porsche has given the small SUV a substantial update. Porsche unveiled the updated Macan in July in Shanghai鈥攁lmost one in three of the SUVs are sold in China鈥攂ut we'll get our first look on local soil during next week's 2018 Los Angeles auto show. Porsche said the updated Macan will start deliveries next summer as a 2019 model. The 2019 Macan benefits from standard LED head and taillights, with the latter adopting the wraparound look seen on the Cayenne and Panamera. There have also been little tweaks made around the body to give the vehicle a more athletic look. In particular, the front has been made to look wider and lower. The designers also added new 20- and 21-inch wheel patterns similar to those found on Porsche's sports cars. There are also the new colors Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, Miami Blue, and Chalk.

The base engine in the 2019 Macan is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 generating 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and will spirit the Macan to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds, or just 6.1 seconds when using the launch control function of the available Sport Chrono package. Top speed is 142 mph. Specifications for other Macan models are yet to be announced for the 2019 model year. For 2018, the Macan S came with 340 hp, the Macan GTS with 360 hp, the Macan Turbo with 400 hp, and a Macan Turbo with Performance Package with 440 hp. Porsche said it tuned the chassis of the 2019 Macan for improved handling and comfort. New tire designs are also said to improve dynamic performance, and just like on Porsche's sports cars the tires now feature a staggered arrangement with a wider pair used at the rear compared to the front. For the interior, the biggest change is a new 10.9-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system, which features customizable menus. The system includes improved voice activation as well as navigation with real-time traffic updates all as standard. One of the key elements of this system is the Here Cloud connection, which offers swarm-based traffic data. There's also a new Offroad Precision app, which off-road enthusiasts can use to record off-road driving experiences. Apple CarPlay is available but not Android Auto. Porsche also upgraded the Macan's suite of electronic driver aids. Included is a new Traffic Jam Assist that handles acceleration and braking at speeds of up to 40 mph. It can also handle mild steering functions during slow-moving traffic. Finally, Porsche has made available its GT steering wheel with integrated driving modes selector. The order books for the 2019 Macan are currently open.

This is partly why the car sits up high and partly why it鈥檚 so heavy, at 2,490kg. Weight is the enemy of efficiency, so this seems slightly at odds with the e-tron鈥檚 ethos. The car uses two electric motors, one on each axle, for a total of 402bhp and a different take on Audi鈥檚 quattro four-wheel drive. Like pretty much every electric car, there鈥檚 a single-speed automatic gearbox. Air suspension is also standard, unlike on the Jag. It鈥檚 linked to the car鈥檚 drive mode select set-up, offering Offroad, Allroad, Comfort, Auto, Efficiency and Dynamic. This is integrated in the lower of the two touchscreens. It鈥檚 an 8.6-inch unit that mostly controls the climate settings. The upper 10.1-inch screen is used for the infotainment, while there鈥檚 a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit, too. It鈥檚 nice tech, but not very different from that found in more conventional Audis, with positives and negatives to this. You get lots of kit even in this base spec, although that鈥檚 a relative term.

This entry-level e-tron does without the car鈥檚 trademark virtual door mirrors, but it has nav, phone integration and lots of safety equipment. There are also 20-inch alloys, climate and adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, heated leather seats, LED lights, DAB, wireless charging and keyless operation. It鈥檚 all integrated into a cabin that鈥檚 executed with the usual quality we鈥檝e come to expect from an Audi. Materials and build quality are good. EVs are characterised by their relaxing driving experience. An instant and fat swell of torque means many are smooth and serene, and sharp, responsive performance is another common trait. While the Audi is definitely relaxed, acceleration isn鈥檛 anywhere near as impressive as in the I-Pace. It鈥檚 partly due to the weight. The Audi is very heavy, and this dulls the punch when you hit the throttle. It鈥檚 far from slow, but it could be more rapid. It took 5.4 seconds to sprint from 0-60mph compared with 4.4 seconds for the Jag, but EVs are as much about easily exploitable acceleration at any speeds.

At least the e-tron has enough urgency here; it took 1.7 seconds to go between 30 and 50mph, although this was still slower than the I-Pace. It鈥檚 not as quick, then, and also not as comfortable. Despite the e-tron鈥檚 standard air suspension, on these 拢950 21-inch wheels the Audi鈥檚 alloys rebound aggressively over harsh bumps. It鈥檚 more settled on the motorway, where the car鈥檚 weight means the damping feels smoother at higher speeds. But then its near-2.5-tonne bulk means it鈥檚 not very agile. The steering has even less life than in most other Audis and you sense the weight trying to tear the e-tron off your chosen line. Special mention should go to the torque-vectoring system, though; this shuffles power to help it turn better. You can feel it working unobtrusively to improve the car鈥檚 handling. Thanks to where the e-tron鈥檚 battery is located in the chassis, there鈥檚 a useful 660 litres of boot space.

Comparison - Jaguar F-Pace SVR 2019 - Vs - Porsche Macan Turbo 2019

Currently the Jaguar F-Pace has a score of 8.2 out of 10 which is based on our evaluation of 21 pieces of research and data elements using various sources. The 2018 Porsche Macan is unchanged. We like the balance of price and performance you get in the Macan S. It has more capability than you'll likely ever need, yet it is still tame enough for daily driving. As for options, the Premium Package Plus is a good place to start since it adds a nice grouping of desirable equipment without getting too fancy with the customization possibilities. 4 in Luxury Compact SUVs. Currently the Porsche Macan has a score of 8.6 out of 10 which is based on our evaluation of 26 pieces of research and data elements using various sources. The 2018 Porsche Macan is the performance pick among compact crossovers because of course it is. Purists may scoff, but we don鈥檛 much care. Did we mention it can crest six figures? No manual transmission. Don鈥檛 even ask.

2004 Porsche Cayenne price range, seller's blue book values, buyer's price, listings near you, consumer reviews, and more. 69,330 still owing on the contract. Carver began his investigation in March 2019. His report details both the difficulties in trying to trace the car and the pitfalls of internet research. Carver started his search at the address the dealership had on file for Liu. Carver found a University of Manitoba student with the same name through Facebook and LinkedIn and showed that picture to the residents of the apartment where the car's purchaser was supposed to live. But they didn't know her. Finally, Porsche Financial Services provided Carver with a copy of Siyu Liu's driver's license. Don Huminiski redeemed a free play for the June 14 draw and picked up his winning ticket at Ford's Grocery in Winnipeg Beach, en route to his family's cottage. I checked my numbers a couple minutes later, and I nearly fell backwards into the ditch!

Knowing that we're set feels like a huge weight is being lifted off my shoulders. The Cayenne is a hugely important model for Porsche . The LED main headlights have an optional new LED matrix beam. Laterally, the sharpened lines of the roof fall flatter to the rear right through to the New in all Cayenne models: the Porsche Advanced Cockpit control concept. From that point, the case came together quickly. The owner of the Chinese food restaurant where Liu had claimed to work confirmed that he had never seen her before. Carver said the record showed that Liu had relocated from Winnipeg to Kelowna in May 2017 and made a "sizeable down payment" on a house. The car was nowhere to be seen. Carver's report says Liu cancelled the Manitoba registration on the Porsche when she moved to Kelowna in 2017. And the vehicle hasn't been registered in Canada since.

There are a multitude of cars in the world and some are more desired than others. Without a doubt, one of the most popular (and envied) cars on the world market is the Porsche. There is good reason why so many motion pictures put the heroes of action movies in a Porsche. The car immediately presents the hero as a man of wealth and taste and this quickly establishes the hero as a "somebody". Yes, the Porsche can create a powerful image in people's eyes and it has been doing so since 1964. There have been many models of Porsche produced over the years with some being more popular than other models. It is safe to say, however, each model possessed something of value and that is why their sales were solid. So, let' take a look at three of the most famous models. While the Porsche 911 was in production until 1989, it is the "A and B" models that were produced between 1964 and 1969 that are the most endearing.

There were a number of reasons for this and, of course, the most important (at least among consumers) was look and performance. This was a great looking car that drove very, very fast. That is why it appealed to the affluent and the adventurous who were weaned upon the images of the rebellious, fast driving James Dean when they were younger. Actually, there is a third reason: prestige. Owning a Porsche was a huge status symbol during the late 1960's and the image of the car, in a way, defined the decade. The Porsche 914 was Porsche's very popular 1970's model. While it was not as stunning as the Porsche 911, the Porsche 914 did have a certain merit to it. Different eras will yield different tastes and the look of the Porsche 914 was a departure from the Porsche 911. The model featured a very low ride as well as a rear engine. It was a Porsche but it didn't look and feel like a Porsche. As the 1970's turned into the 1980's, Porsche released the model 944 and it was a very successful release.

2019 Porsche Cayenne Vs. 2019 Porsche Macan

You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Porsche Cayenne as you will with the Porsche Macan, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas. There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Porsche Cayenne will definitely make more of a dent in your wallet than the Porsche Macan, which has a much lower MSRP. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Both the Porsche Cayenne and the Porsche Macan have similar Destination Charges. Since the Porsche Cayenne is much wider than the Porsche Macan, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging. For some people, bigger is better.

If that's the case for you, then you'll be happier with the Porsche Cayenne, which is slightly longer than the Porsche Macan. Due to its much higher torque, the Porsche Cayenne does a much better job of transmitting its engine's horsepower to its wheels than the Porsche Macan. The Porsche Cayenne has a larger turning radius than the Porsche Macan, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots. If you've got something you need to pull, the Porsche Cayenne will do just as well as the Porsche Macan, since they have about the same towing capacity. When it comes to horsepower, the Porsche Cayenne greatly out-muscles the Porsche Macan. In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Porsche Cayenne and the Porsche Macan. The Porsche Cayenne has a roomier cargo area for putting your bags or other items than the Porsche Macan.

The relationships we had then were more than any money can buy. I am convinced my parents would have not divorced in Europe. Also, on the other side of the Ocean, we had family. So there is a difference between wants and needs. Or, what we believe richness is all about. As I said, I want a lot of stuff. I am really absolutely grateful to be able to love someone and feel that mirrored back to me. I am grateful for my friends which are part of my soul, that I love profoundly and unconditionally. I feel blessed for my physical shape and condition, my health. I am appreciate always that I have a roof, even more than one. I eat almost whatever I want (now I eat whatever I allow myself but that's a different story). I thank God for my freedom and luck to be able to write this. The time that I have is immense and I feel so much joy in knowing that I can enjoy that time.

So, the Jaguar, the Lotus and range Rover are truly extras. So is the brand new High definition whatever else they say about it or the new I-phone or PlayStation. Remember when the pong was trendy? It was a tennis kind of game you paid on TV, just two lines and a ball going back and forth. In this day of age where new technologies appear faster than our own wants change, I don't want to imagine all we are throwing away, and how fast. Where do all our yesterday's wants end up: where is that big garbage can? And it is not like on our computer when we empty the trash and it just vanishes into outer space. All that stuff doesn't make us happy anyway. Maybe, even more, it is serenity that we can develop and that surpasses any happiness. I admit feeling happy when I acquire something I want but that happiness of owning does not die down because I know I don't need it and rejoice all the time of the luck of owning that beautiful thing. So let's remember to take time to be grateful that our needs are met and confuse less the wants with the needs. We don't need the house, we just want it. We don't absolutely need that sweater that is on sale. We don't need more because we get a second one at half price. We just want it. We won't die if we don't have it so it is easier to control the need to buy it.

Our vehicle had the three-person rear seat, however, and we needed it, as we had five on board most of the time. With the optional two-passenger rear seating, you鈥檒l get reclining captain鈥檚 chairs that offer both massage and heat. To make the vehicle quieter, there is acoustic lamination for the windshield and door glass. The premium leather for the interior comes from Scotland, and wood for the cabin trim from 鈥渟ustainable forests,鈥?Land Rover says. The HSE鈥檚 cabin is roomier than that of the previous generation, with an increase of 4.7 inches in rear-seat legroom. The standard models are 196.6 inches long, while the new long-wheelbase models, introduced for 2014, are 204.7 inches long, giving them nearly eight inches more rear legroom than the regular version. The two-piece rear hatch is now power-operated, and can be opened with the remote control for the door locks; only the top three-quarters opens automatically. An aluminum suspension system was designed to give the vehicle more stability and better handling. It no longer has the top-heavy feel of the previous models, something off-road users will appreciate. The Range Rover鈥檚 air-suspension system helps give additional stability during cornering, and allows the vehicle to raise itself up to an additional 5.8 inches off road to clear obstacles. It lowers about two inches from normal highway height to allow for easier entry and exit. A smart-key system allows for pushbutton start and stop of the engine, and there is a system that shuts the engine down while the vehicle is stopped in traffic or at signals. Range Rovers can wade through water up to 35.4 inches deep, and have a maximum of 11.7 inches of ground clearance. We have a state park close by that has a road that runs through a creek, but it鈥檚 just a few inches deep, so we didn鈥檛 give the vehicle a real deep-water test.

The 2019 Porsche Macan Has A New Look, New V-6s, More Power

UPDATE 12/11/18: Details about the Macan S have now been released, with Porsche confirming that it gets a new turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. This story has been updated with the new information. 50,950 for the four-cylinder model. We have updated our story accordingly. Behind the familiar face of the 2019 Porsche Macan lie some significant changes. Porsche took the wraps off the freshened Macan in Shanghai, giving us our first look at the revised SUV, which has new engines, a new infotainment system, and other new features. As before, the Macan is based on the Volkswagen Group's first-generation MLB modular-longitudinal architecture. Inside, the 7.0-inch infotainment screen has been replaced by a new 11.0-inch touchscreen, with the air vents moving below the screen to make room. The configurable system resembles the Cayenne's and Panamera's in design and function. The voice-control function is said to offer improved responses and software. The optional Sport Chrono package still brings the somewhat pretentious stopwatch that sits atop the dashboard but now also adds a round switch on the steering wheel for selecting driving modes. In the center is the Sport Response button鈥攁s seen in other Porsche models鈥攖hat sharpens the car's reactions immediately.

The optional GT Sport steering wheel, which is smaller than before, is borrowed from the 911, and the options list also includes an air ionizer for the esoterically inclined. So far, Porsche has only revealed the base Macan and the midrange Macan S. The base model sticks with its 248-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, with Porsche saying it will hit 60 mph in a brisk 6.1 seconds. The Macan S is the volume model, and for 2019 it gains a new single-turbo 3.0-liter V-6, replacing last year's twin-turbo V-6. The Macan Turbo has yet to be revealed, but it will likely be fitted with a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 that should be good for an additional 90 or so horses. We expect a GTS model in between, and the Turbo could once again be offered with a Performance package for even more power. All engines are mated to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive as standard fitment. Porsche won't offer a plug-in-hybrid powertrain in the Macan. 4000 more than the previous year. The revised Macan will continue to face off against the likes of the Audi SQ5, the BMW X3/X4, and the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 and GLC63.

Porsche's 718 lineup is getting two more models for 2020 鈥?the GT4 coupe and Spyder. While the 911 has grown and gotten more comfortable over the years, the 718 is rapidly creeping up on Porsche's most identifiable model as the true enthusiast's choice. The GT4 and Spyder both feature a 4-liter naturally-aspirated boxer six making 414 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque 鈥?all in a flyweight mid-engine chassis weighing just 3100 pounds. This is enough to push the GT4 from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 187 MPH. The chassis has Porsche's PASM active suspension system, and astoundingly, a real six-speed manual transmission 鈥?the kind with a third pedal and lever. If all that wasn't enough to make get the purists excited, the Spyder is arguably one of Porsche's best-looking cars ever, with everything mentioned on the GT4 and style reminiscent of the 911 Speedster. Both cars are available for order now.

We've finally calmed down from thrashing the all-new, front-wheel-drive-biased, 4Matic A45 and CLA45 from Mercedes-Benz's AMG performance division. Our driving experiences were good and, above all, more responsive than any mainline AMG model in memory - both cars took a little getting used to dynamically, but getting comfortable didn't take long. Now we've thrust ourselves into the driver's seat of AMG's offering at the other end of the spectrum - the new S63 AMG with its decidedly rear-biased 4Matic all-wheel drive and extended wheelbase. You can't fit two A45 AMGs bumper-to-bumper within the footprint of this 17.4-foot long, 5.1-inch-stretched S-Class, but it sure seems possible when you first stare at it. If you're thinking that we could just say that this thing is a monster and then lights out, end of story, you wouldn't be quite right. The S-Class is, after all, among the most successful model families from any car company on Earth, creating huge profits for Mercedes per unit sold. It is the standard to which all others aspire in the segment, at the very least when it comes to business cases. Speaking of the S63 in particular, it therefore still needs to be able to embrace its passengers in masses of comfort even while strapping on AMG power.

Prices for the all-Petrol range open at just over 拢46,000, which gets you the entry-level 2.0-litre turbo 245hp model. If you want more power, you can also talk to your dealer about the 3.0 V6 Macan S and the 2.9-litre V6 twin turbo Turbo version. The range of standard features has been expanded to include LED main headlights and the new PCM infotainment system, with online navigation and Connect Plus. This revised Macan offers the choice of an expanded range of options, plus enhanced assist systems. The optional GT sports steering wheel echoes the style of the Porsche 911. A mode switch integrated into the steering wheel - including a sport response button - is part of the optional Sport Chrono Package. An extra luxury option is the heated windscreen and air ioniser package that improves the quality of the air inside the vehicle. As for extra camera-driven safety stuff, well there'S now a new Traffic Assist system that uses adaptive cruise control to allow the vehicle to travel at speeds of up to 37mph for a more pleasant and relaxing drive.

While in the United States the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE comes with two gasoline engines, customers in Europe also have three diesel powertrains to choose from. The range starts with the GLE 300d 4Matic which is Mercedes code for a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel that offers 245 PS at 4,500 rpm and 500 Nm of torque available between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm. Naturally, it鈥檚 linked to the 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. Unsurprisingly, the GLE 300d 4Matic is the most economical model in the range, with a claimed average fuel consumption (NEDC) of 6.4-6.1 l/100 km (44.1-46.3 mpg UK) and corresponding CO2 emissions of 169-161 g/km. Performance isn鈥檛 bad either, as the GLE 300d 4Matic goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 225 km/h. It too features the 9G-Tronic transmission and 4Matic AWD system, but the difference in performance compared to the base GLE 300d 4Matic isn鈥檛 impressive.

0-100 km/h takes 6.9 seconds and the top speed is 230 km/h. To get the most out of a diesel-powered GLE, one would have to go for the 400d 4Matic model, which uses an upgraded version of the 2.9-liter straight-six unit with EQ Boost assistance. Maximum output is 330 PS at 3,600-4,000 rpm, while peak torque is an impressive 700 Nm at 1,200-3,000 rpm. EQ Boost adds an extra 22 hp and 250 Nm for short bursts of additional grunt. Performance-wise, the GLE 400d 4Matic gets very close to the range-topping GLE 450 4Matic, covering the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds and topping out at 240 km/h. All diesel engines comply with the Euro 6d emissions standard and can already be ordered in Europe. The base GLE 300d 4Matic is priced from 鈧?65,807 in Germany and 拢 55,685 in the UK, while the GLE 400d 4Matic is available from 鈧?76,100 and 拢 64,230, respectively.

2019 Porsche Macan

A close look at the 2019 Porsche Macan's front-end reveals new LED headlights with signature four-LED fixtures each, bigger air intakes near the radiator grille, and sleek LED strips that double up as turn indicators. Thanks to these changes, the front-end of the SUV looks wider than before. The side profile remains intact, except for a new design for the alloy wheels. In keeping with Porsche's latest design philosophy, the Macan receives a three-dimensional LED light panel at its tail-end. Like the Porsche 718, the tail lights of the MY2019 Macan feature 3D elements with the Porsche lettering splashed across the mid-section. Four new exterior colours are now on offer- Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, Miami Blue and Crayon. The interior of the 2019 Porsche Macan mirrors that of its predecessor to a large extent. The new features include a touchscreen system, heated front windshield, air ioniser for the climate control, and a new Traffic Jam Assist feature that allows semi-autonomous driving at speeds of up to 37 miles per hour (60 km/h). The engine and the gearbox options have been left untouched. The 2019 Porsche Macan is available with 2.0-litre turbocharged, 3.0-litre twin-turbo, and 3.6-litre twin-turbo petrol engines that are mated a 7-speed PDK gearbox. The 2019 Porsche Macan rides on an overhauled chassis that enhances the comfort levels and the road handling characteristics. The refreshed model offers all-wheel drive with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system.

An A7 TDI hit 60 mph in 5.8 seconds at our test track, a few tenths slower than Audi's estimate but still remarkably quick by diesel standards. EPA fuel economy estimates for the A7 3.0T stand at 24 mpg combined (20 city/30 highway), a startling 4-mpg increase from last year despite carryover mechanicals and an added 23 hp. The A7 TDI gains a single mpg, checking in at an exceptional 30 mpg combined (25 city/38 highway). We nearly matched that on the Edmunds evaluation route with 28.9 mpg. Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Audi A7 includes antilock disc brakes, stability control, a blind-spot warning system, front and rear parking sensors, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front knee airbags. Rear side airbags are a standalone option, while the Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, a corner-view camera system and lane-keeping assist. In Edmunds brake testing, we evaluated both an A7 3.0T and an A7 TDI with 20-inch wheels and summer tires came to a stop from 60 mph in 106 feet.

That's impressive, no doubt, but expect a longer distance with the standard all-season tires and 19-inch wheels. The A7's interior is thoughtfully designed and tightly constructed, with excellent materials quality. Subtle wood accents add to the premium feel, as does the comprehensive red backlighting at night. Audi's familiar Multi Media Interface (MMI) controls audio, communication and navigation functions via a dash-mounted pop-up screen and a knob and buttons on the center console. There's also a touchpad that includes radio preset numbers and allows you to enter letters and numbers into the navigation system using handwriting. In total, MMI boasts logical menus and crisp graphics, and after a short time it seems relatively intuitive. The A7 is also equipped with Audi Connect, which includes 4G LTE data connectivity with mobile WiFi for up to eight devices, Google Earth data for the navigation system and simplified Google search for POIs. The Google Earth feature is a cool concept, but in practice it's an example of form over function, as the "enhanced" map can be more difficult to comprehend at a glance than a conventional navigation map.

We have higher hopes for the new-for-2016 4G integration, as it's bound to be an improvement over the sluggish 3G service provided in previous years. Fitting five passengers in the A7 is quite feasible, as long as the ones in back aren't very tall. Headroom up front is acceptable, but the sleek, sloping roof line limits rear headroom quite a bit, and it also makes ingress and egress more challenging. Happily, legroom is adequate all around. The A7's hatchback design enables easy loading of luggage and larger items that might not fit in the trunk of a conventional sedan. Official cargo capacity is 24.5 cubic feet, but lowering the rear seatbacks increases that volume significantly. Regardless of which powertrain you choose, the 2016 Audi A7 can pass slow-moving traffic in what seems like a blink of an eye. The supercharged 3.0T is a stunning engine in its own right, providing nearly instantaneous throttle response that its turbocharged rivals can only dream of.

2019 Porsche Macan Vs. 2019 Lexus RX 350

You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Porsche Macan as you will with the Lexus RX 350, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas. There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Porsche Macan is somewhat more expensive than the Lexus RX 350. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it's built. Since the Porsche Macan is much wider than the Lexus RX 350, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging. The Porsche Macan is slightly shorter than the Lexus RX 350, which may make it easier to park. With similar torque, the Porsche Macan and the Lexus RX 350 are about even in transmitting their respective horsepower to the wheels. The Porsche Macan has a significantly smaller turning radius than the Lexus RX 350, allowing you to much more easily maneuver in and out of tight spots. In terms of towing capacity, the Lexus RX 350 is clearly the choice over the Porsche Macan for pulling heavy loads.

Porsche proved that even large 4x4s could be fun to drive when it introduced the Cayenne, and the slightly smaller Macan moves things on again; in fact, it feels more agile than plenty of sports cars. Press the Sport button and it gets even better, because this sharpens the steering and throttle response, and speeds up gearchanges. Cars with Porsche Active Suspension Management let you stiffen the suspension, too. The Macan is even capable of heading off road, if you鈥檙e feeling adventurous. It鈥檚 not a faux-by-four. The Macan is too new to have featured in the 2014 JD Power customer satisfaction survey. However, it shares many mechanical components with the Audi Q5, which was rated average overall, but among the best for engines and interior quality. It's just a pity Porsche doesn't offer a longer warranty. You get two years of cover, whereas most rivals come with at least three years. The economy varies dramatically depending on which model you choose. The Macan is significantly more expensive than the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Range Rover Evoque, and you won't be able to haggle any discount on the price. Servicing and insurance will also be far from cheap. However, the desirability of the Porsche badge will start to pay dividends come resale time. Safety body Euro NCAP hasn't crash tested the Macan yet. But it matches its key rivals in having front, side and window airbags, and an electronic system that improves stability. The Porsche Macan comes with dual-zone climate control, leather and Alcantara seats (electrically adjustable for driver), front and rear parking sensors, a digital radio and an excellent sound system. However, given the price of the car, it鈥檚 a little disappointing that you have to pay extra for satnav and a Bluetooth hands-free phone connection.

It's a dim Saturday morning and we're going to see whether the new A4 can would like to rival the class-driving Jaguar XE, BMW 3-arrangement and Mercedes C-class. At the word 'Go! Audians, tempests up the winding mountain street, checking this uncommon stage for moderate moving movement and portable radar traps. Precisely three minutes after the fact, the armada of A4s follows in 30sec interims. We begin the day in the 272bhp diesel and it requires some investment to get it set up to our decisions. The strong and agreeable new games seat needs further changing. Toward the end of the 70km/h zone that appears to wind everlastingly along the base of the lofty mountain, the vehicle's DNA is at last tuned to taste. The last move before the visor falls and the travelers quit talking is to bump the updated square commute by-wire gear selector of the eight-velocity programmed to the manual position.

Despite the fact that the 3.0-liter V6 spreads 443lb ft of torque the distance from 1500 to 3000rpm, ground surface the quickening agent does not have an incredible unstable impact we had sought after. Like the all the more intense 313bhp 3.0 TDI, it serves to keep a touch of weight on the throttle pedal to keep up support weight. Once the torque food has begun, on the other hand, the lower-fueled 272bhp unit feels more dynamic and less peaky than its antecedent. Since the last two apparatuses are dispersed for most extreme inclination, the 5000rpm redline travels every which way and returns in quick progression. Mental note number one: the new 2016 A4 is peaceful in outright terms and hugely calm for a diesel. It likewise rides outstandingly superior to the A4 it replaces. Verification is given by the easy low-hindrance retention, the cushy reaction to customary foes, for example, seepage networks or sewer vent spreads, and the straightforwardness with which the new Audi A4 experts transverse disturbances. The greater part of the corners up to the mid-path purpose of the first segment are quick sweepers. That is quick as in 80mph, fourth-rigging quick.

Porsche Macan Vs Jaguar F-Pace

The Porsche Macan SUV arrived in 2014 to great fanfare. Complementing the Cayenne in the German brand鈥檚 SUV range, it opened up Porsche ownership to an even wider range of buyers - but it earned its stripes on merit. The original was a peach to drive, with a premium image that meant owners loved it. There was a good choice of powertrains, too, with V6 petrol and diesel models offering differing performance. However, diesel is no more in the updated Macan line-up. Instead, the most efficient model is now this 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit. It was available on special order in the old car, but few UK buyers took up the option. With this renewed focus on petrol power, the facelifted Macan is set to be much more popular. The Porsche has always been an SUV for keen drivers, so its main competitor is clearly the Jaguar F-Pace - another premium package that focuses on petrol-powered driving enjoyment mixed with quality, practicality and equipment. This 2.0-litre car is the entry-level model in the new Macan range.

Prices start from 拢46,344, so it鈥檚 well matched to the F-Pace. However, it鈥檒l have to live up to the Jag鈥檚 new technology, too. Let鈥檚 find out how much of an improved package the Porsche is. Under the skin, the Macan still uses the same platform, so there are no huge changes here. That means the basic suspension layout remains, with double wishbones at the front and a multi-link set-up at the rear. However, there are lighter but firmer springs, which are claimed to improve handling without compromising comfort. Other alterations ensure it鈥檚 even more refined. The optional Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM) function is probably worth its 拢816 cost to broaden the Macan鈥檚 ability. The 2.0-litre unit is the same basic motor as that fitted to VW鈥檚 Golf GTI Performance, with a particulate filter in the exhaust for this updated car. There鈥檚 242bhp, 370Nm of torque and a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, only here it sends power to all four wheels. There are more changes inside the Porsche - the most important of which is the new 10.9-inch infotainment screen.

It鈥檚 similar in appearance and operation to the units in the Panamera, Cayenne and the latest 911, and it鈥檚 here where the new Macan gets its largest technology update. The rest of the cabin is similar to its predecessor鈥檚, which means even in this entry-level car quality is impressive. The centre console still features a few too many buttons and switches compared with the simpler set-up in Porsche鈥檚 newer models, though. You get a good standard of basic kit, with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, DAB, 18-inch alloys, LED lights, cruise and climate control, a power tailgate and parking sensors. However, features such as a full-leather interior are extra, at 拢1,044, while heated seats cost 拢294. Both are standard on the Jag, but the Macan鈥檚 cabin quality still feels stronger than the F-Pace鈥檚. The Macan is still the best-driving car of its type, even with this smaller, less powerful engine. Its steering has a lovely weight and just the right rate of response for a car of this size and bulk.

That鈥檚 because those suspension tweaks have yielded genuinely hot hatch-bothering grip. It鈥檚 allied to the four-wheel drive, which isn鈥檛 flummoxed by slippery conditions, and which easily and evenly distributes power to where it鈥檚 needed. Traction is superb and the way the system shuffles the motive force around helps agility. It鈥檚 a Macan trait, and the Jag can鈥檛 match this car鈥檚 handling ability. On the firmest suspension setting roll is nicely contained, but the ride does take on a less composed edge. The middle mode is a better bet for sporty driving, while the default comfort setting means the Macan glides more over the road. On optional 20-inch alloys you do feel thumps and bumps, but they鈥檙e still nicely dealt with and body movement is well curtailed. It still feels more dynamic than the Jag, even if it sometimes sacrifices a little of the bigger F-Pace鈥檚 ride comfort. There should be no worries about performance. The 2.0-litre engine isn鈥檛 the most musical, but it delivers the goods.

Porsche Macan - 2019

Porsche has a surefire winner on its hands with the Macan. The small SUV is deeply rooted in the company's sporting heritage, as is evident with even a passing glance. The Macan is available in Base, S, GTS, Turbo or Turbo with Performance trim. All feature active all-wheel drive and the latest development of Porsche Traction Management. The rear axle is always powered, while the front receives its cues from the available traction. In particularly unstable driving situations, such as icy roads, fully 100 percent of the Macan's power can be shifted to the front wheels through a multi-plate clutch. The Macan also benefits from an aluminum 5-arm wishbone suspension up front, with a self-tracking trapezoidal link suspension in the back. Paired with big 6-piston brakes, 19-inch alloy wheels and fat tires, the Macan is as sure-footed as they come. The Turbo also includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), an electronic damping control system featuring Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus driving modes for increased stability, safety and comfort. Three engines are offered in the Macan.

The base Macan is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder making 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Porsche claims a sprint from 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds. The Macan S is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6, which produces 340 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 339 pound-feet of torque from just 1,450 rpm. That's enough to propel the Macan S to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, with a top speed of 156 mph. The Macan GTS is also powered by the 3.0L V6, with a performance tune that takes it to 360 horsepower. Finally, the Macan Turbo models move thanks to a 3.6L twin-turbo V6. In the regular Turbo, the unit makes an even 400 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 406 pound-feet at 1,350 rpm. That's good for a supercar-like 0-60 mph time of just 4.6 seconds and a top end of 164 mph. In the Turbo with Performance package, the engine produces 440 horsepower and 442 pound-feet, with 0-60 mph coming in a brisk 4.2 seconds.

All engines are mated to Porsche's PDK dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission, which makes for extremely fast gear changes. Paddle shifters make changing gears a snap and a selectable Sport mode allows for more responsive engine and transmission management. This equates to faster shift times, a higher redline and a sweeter sound from the exhaust. Standard amenities in the Macan include 18-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights with dynamic headlight leveling and cleaning, along with LED running lights and fog lights. Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with hard-drive navigation is also standard, as is a 14-speaker Bose audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, tri-zone automatic climate control, rearview camera and parking sensors and a power tailgate. The Macan S builds on these features, and in addition to the larger engine, it includes dual exhausts, 19-inch wheels, and larger brakes. The Macan GTS features special exterior aero treatments and rides on 20-inch wheels. It features an adaptive air suspension, along with bigger disc brakes, a throaty sport exhaust and heated sport seats.

In the Macan Turbo, you'll find LED daytime running lights and adaptive headlights, 18-way powered and heated seats and navigation. Macan interiors are as luxurious and ergonomically efficient as anything Porsche has assembled in the rest of its range. Leather abounds. The large tachometer sits front and center before the driver, with the ignition on the left--a Porsche hallmark. All models feature a 3-way rear bench that, when folded, allows for 50.3 cubic-feet of cargo space. Some exceptional options and packages are offered for the Macan. Wheel choices go all the way to 21 inches in several designs. The Sport Chrono Package is a button-operated change in the way the Macan responds to driver input, thanks to an even more aggressive mapping of the engine, transmission, and chassis, along with "launch control" for the fastest starts possible. When equipped, 0-60 mph sprints in either model are reduced by 0.2 seconds. Air suspension is also available, a Macan-exclusive feature in this segment. It includes a leveling system, ride height adjustment, and PASM.

Macan You Hear Me Now?

As with many new models these days, the refreshed Porsche Macan debuted in China, the world鈥檚 biggest car market, where it鈥檚 a key product for the brand with a Porsche-claimed 100,000 sales so far. While the Porsche Macan unveiled was the Chinese model, most details are expected to show up in various global versions. The subtly redone front end may leave you unable to say what鈥檚 different even though you know you like it better. Park it next to a 2018 Macan, however, and you鈥檒l see that the reshaped grille, updated bumper and harder-edged hood make it look lower, wider and sleeker, losing some of the chunkiness of the previous design. LED headlights now are standard (adaptive lights are available) and include a striking four-point daytime running light. A three-dimensional LED taillight strip now runs across the liftgate in the style of the new Panamera and the Cayenne. It makes for a wide-body effect as well as a good-looking light. Wider seems to be a theme here, and it continues inside with a stretched, 11-inch high-definition touchscreen display 鈥?up from 7 inches before 鈥?that dominates the updated dashboard.

It鈥檚 powered by a new system that includes upgraded intelligent voice control. The interface is configurable just as it is in the new Panamera and Cayenne. Despite the flashy new screen and some tech updates seen on other recent models, the redone dash and center console appear to retain a welcome array of physical buttons and switches for easy access to common features. If you鈥檙e a sucker for a just-right steering wheel (I am), you鈥檒l want to check the option box for the new, 911-like GT sport steering wheel. It also includes a driving mode control and, if you order the Sports Chrono Package, a Sport Response button that tightens up the SUV鈥檚 response immediately. Just because you have a Porsche doesn鈥檛 mean you won鈥檛 end up in the same traffic as a Toyota Yaris driver. But the 2019 Macan can help take the edge off at up to nearly 40 mph with a new Traffic Jam Assist feature, which includes adaptive cruise control that assists with acceleration, braking and steering in slow traffic.

A standard communications module enables 鈥渟warm-based鈥?traffic information from the cloud in real time as part of the standard internet-connected navigation system. Macan joins the ranks of many European luxury cars today with a cabin air ionizer for a fresher interior. I know you鈥檝e been wondering about that. Porsche offered little information about chassis changes and none about potential powertrain changes. It said the chassis has been tweaked to 鈥渙ptimize鈥?performance, and the Macan will offer some new wheel and tire combinations, including new 20- and 21-inch wheels. Porsche was mum about any changes under the hood despite widespread rumors of power bumps for the current engines, which arguably don鈥檛 need the boost. In the U.S., the 2018 Macan offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (252 horsepower), a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 (340 or 360 hp) or a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 (400 or 440 hp). These three hot hatchbacks are quite closely matched for company car tax bills, but the Volkswagen is the cheapest. Higher-rate earners will pay 拢4,533 a year for the Golf R because it sits in the 33 per cent Benefit-in-Kind tax band. The Honda sits in the 36 per cent bracket and will cost 拢4,700 a year, and the Mercedes splits the two, at 拢4,761 (34 per cent). While the Golf returned reasonable economy of 29.3mpg, considering its strong performance, that figure was the lowest of the three cars here. 鈥淯nlike the A 35, the Golf R is also available with a manual gearbox. The Type R nails the hot hatch brief. It buzzes with excitement when you鈥檙e pushing hard, but is a comfortable and practical family car when you鈥檙e not. Honda鈥檚 model is better value than both of its rivals, with loads of standard equipment, plus it鈥檚 also more fun to drive, whether you鈥檙e heading to the shops or on a track day. The infotainment could be better, but it鈥檚 still the best hot hatch on sale. While it can鈥檛 match the Honda鈥檚 value or thrills, the VW Golf R is still an incredible hot hatch.

With four-wheel drive, its performance is astonishing, and in a straight line it would leave many much more expensive cars in its wake. Yet it鈥檚 still engaging and is also as usable and practical as a Golf should be. It comes with plenty of kit and should be affordable to run. The new A 35 is nearly as fast as the Golf R and easily has the classiest interior here. It鈥檚 also composed and boasts great traction, but the AMG doesn鈥檛 have the same level of finesse found in the Civic, in particular. The A 35 isn鈥檛 as good to drive as its competitors, while more kit is optional and it鈥檒l be more expensive to buy and run. It鈥檚 also not quite as comfortable as either rival. The BMW M140i offers something different in this class, because it has a straight-six engine and rear-wheel drive. It鈥檚 great fun to drive and that smooth and powerful unit is one of the best at this price. There鈥檚 a new, front-wheel-drive 1 Series coming soon, so act fast. Audi鈥檚 RS 3 is much more expensive to buy new than the A 35, but go for a late 2016 model and it鈥檚 within budget. We found one with 23,000 miles for less than 拢32,000. The RS 3 has an incredible engine, four-wheel-drive traction and a high-quality cabin.
