Complaint:
Washer fluid indicator is not correct.
Indicator on instrument cluster shows that reservoir is empty although the reservoir contains sufficient windshield washer fluid.
Cause:
The electrical conductivity of the fluid in the washer fluid reservoir is not sufficient due to:
a) The use of distilled or deionized water,
b) Tap water content of mixing ratio is too low or
c) Proportion of winter washer fluid concentrate is too high (antifreeze protection approx.100%)
The electrical circuit cannot be closed by the 2-pin sensor and the message "Washer fluid reservoir empty" appears in the display of the instrument
cluster.
Remedy:
Fill the reservoir with washer concentrate and tap water at the recommended mixing ratio (see owner's manual).
Note:
It is assumed that the connectors to the washer fluid level sensor are plugged in and the lines have no function impairments.
Replacement of the SAM control unit or the current washer fluid level sensor does not rectify the issue.
