2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Gets Limited Heated Rear Seat Availability

Text
Some 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 models will be produced without Heated Second Row Outboard Seats (RPO code KA6), GM Authority can confirm.
As of July 26th, the Heated Second Row Outboard Seats will have limited availability on the 2021MY GMC Sierra 1500. This decision was likely made due to the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage, which has forced GM to pull certain equipment from some of its vehicles in order to cut back on the number of chips it uses per vehicle.
The Heated Second Row Outboard Seats for the 2021MY GMC Sierra 1500 were part of the SLT Convenience Package on the SLT trim level on Crew Cab configuration and were also standard on Crew Cab models in the AT4 trim and Denali trim levels. It’s not clear which trim levels will end up getting the feature and which won’t going forward, although it seems likely that the more expensive AT4 and Denali models will have priority over SLT models.
Customers who purchase vehicles that would otherwise receive Heated Second Row Outboard Seats will likely receive a purchase credit in lieu of the feature’s absence. It’s not clear at this time what this purchase credit will be valued at. When GM pulled the Active Fuel Management and Dynamic Fuel Management systems from the order books for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, the automaker offered a $50 credit to affected customers. The automaker has also pulled other equipment from its pickup models amid the chip shortage, including HD Radio.
The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 will soon be replaced by the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited, which carries over every aspect of the 2021 model including, features, trim levels and available options. The Sierra 1500 Limited will arrive in place of the mid-cycle update GMC Sierra, which has been postponed until later in 2022 or until the 2023MY.
