Creaking noise from the area of the crossmember of the height adjuster.



Occurs on load changes and on rough roads.



Affects fully electric seat adjusters.



Cause:



Inaccurate positioning or detachment of the felt on the transverse pipe (door side).



Remedy:



Series production measure (for vehicles produced as of 30 November 2006):



Installation of sliding block since 30 November 2006. (VIN end number model series 164 as of # 211173 & VIN end number model series 251 as of



# 051018)



Field measure (for vehicles produced up to 29 November 2006):



(VIN end number model series 164 up to # 211173 & VIN end number model series 251 up to # 051018)



Remark: Do not remove the seat.



1. Check whether the vehicle has the special equipment "Fire extinguisher" (code 682).



If it does, remove the fire extinguisher holder.



Otherwise proceed as follows:



2. Move seat all the way back and set cushion angle to the highest position (Figure 1).



3. Detach the two cushion frame brackets at the front (Figure 2).



4. Carefully open clip fastening of exposed plastic clips using a suitable tool (Figure 3).



5. Push assembly wedge between transverse pipe and cushion frame to act as a spacer (Figure 4).



6. Remove existing felt on transverse pipe and completely remove any adhesive residues using a suitable solvent (Figure 5).



7. Lightly coat lug on sliding block with lubrication (A000 989 36 60, also included in the Noise Damping Service Kit).



8. Insert lug of sliding block into plastic bracket (Figures 6, 7, 8).



9. Remove assembly wedge.



10. Install in the reverse order. (Position cushion frame over plastic clips on transverse pipe, clip the plastic clips together, insert cushion frame



brackets at the front and bolt down)



11. Perform function test



*Sufficient for 20 cars, submit as Local Purchase - SAA00213, Qty 1, handling is included
