Circuit/System Testing



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the CHMSL.



2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.



瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.



3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal A and the ground circuit terminal B.



4. Ignition ON, turn the stop lamps ON and OFF by applying and releasing the brake pedal. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when



changing between the selected states.



瀚慖f the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.



瀚慖f the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace



the BCM.



5. If all circuits test normal, replace the CHMSL.

Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit/System Description



The driver information center (DIC) switch is a multiplexed switch. Battery power is provided to the DIC switch via the instrument panel cluster



(IPC). The DIC switch signal circuit is pulled up to battery voltage in the IPC. The IPC also provides the DIC switch with a low reference. The



switch input to the IPC is pulled low when a switch is activated. The DIC switch is a momentary contact switch that connects a series of resistors in



a resistor ladder format. The IPC monitors the DIC switch signal circuit to determine the DIC switch inputs. Each switch state - Set/Reset,



Trip/Fuel, Vehicle Information, Personalization, INFO UP, INFO DOWN - corresponds to a certain resistance value. The IPC determines the



switch pressed by the voltage drop across the resistors.



Conditions for Running the DTC



The ignition is in ACCESSORY or RUN.
