Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Fuel Level Sensor parameter. The reading should be between 0.9-2.5 V.

Circuit/System Testing

Note: If equipped, the following tests can be performed at an inline connector. See schematics for the corresponding terminals to test at.

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the secondary fuel level sensor.

2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal D and ground.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests

normal, replace the ECM.

3. Ignition ON, install a 3 A fused jumper between the secondary signal circuit terminal A and the low reference circuit terminal D. Verify the

scan tool Fuel Level Sensor Right Tank parameter is less than 0.4 V.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal,

replace the ECM.

4. If all circuits test normal, perform the fuel level sensor component test before replacing the secondary fuel level sensor.

Component Testing

1. Ignition OFF, remove the secondary fuel level sensor.

2. While sweeping the secondary fuel level sensor through its full range of motion, test for a minimum value less than 41 ohm and a maximum

value greater than 119 ohm between signal terminal A and the low reference terminal D.

瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the secondary fuel level sensor.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* Fuel Level Sensor Replacement - Left Side (See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Fuel Level Sensor/Service and

Repair/Fuel Level Sensor Replacement - Left Side) for the 3.6L engine

* Fuel Level Sensor Replacement - Left Side (See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Fuel Level Sensor/Service and

Repair/Fuel Level Sensor Replacement - Left Side) for the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L or 7.0L engines

* Control Module References (See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning) for the ECM replacement, setup, and programming
