Ford Trademarks Mustang Mach-E Name In Europe, US
The company is seeking protection in the US and Europe for the "Mustang Mach-E" name, along with a silver, striped Mustang logo that's very different from the one now used on its pony cars. Vehicle manufacturer Ford has confirmed that it is designing an SUV that looks not unlike the current Mustang, packs an all-electric powertrain, and is rated for 600 kilometers (375 miles) of range. The name "Mach-E" draws inspiration from the Mach-1 name that was introduced in 1969, but includes the E commonly used to reference an electric powertrain, which Ford has confirmed will be used. The popularity of pony cars is largely due to the launch of the Ford Mustang in 1964. The Ford Mustang Mach-E, Falcon or even the Lightning are possible names under consideration. So get ready for that someday. This will be around the time that Volkswagen's first MEB vehicle, a crossover based on the ID Crozz, will go on sale in the U.S. Park officials told the Letaba Herald that the man entered the park illegally to hunt rhinos but was killed by an elephant . The victim's four alleged accomplices are now in custody and will "appear in court in due course", the park service added.
Using Bluetooth, the vehicle can detect customers鈥?smartphones as they approach, unlocking the Mach-E and allowing them to start driving without getting their phones out of their pockets or using a key fob. A backup code can be entered on the center touch screen to start and drive the vehicle in the event a phone battery dies. Mustang Mach-E will be available in both standard-range (75.7 kWh lithium-ion battery) and extended-range (98.8 kWh battery), which has a targeted EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles (483 km) in rear-wheel-drive configuration. These advanced batteries feature 288 lithium-ion cells in the standard-range version and 376 lithium-ion cells in the extended-range. Designed for ease of manufacturing, the battery is located on the floor between the vehicle鈥檚 two axles - and tested at temperatures as extreme as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The batteries are secured inside a waterproof battery case surrounded by crash-absorption protection. They are liquid-cooled to optimize performance in extreme weather and to improve charging times. Ford has more than 2,100 EV-certified Ford dealers and more than 3,500 EV-trained technicians to support customers nationwide.
Unbelievably, in 53rd year of consecutive production, the Ford Mustang continues to impress. The latest pony combines progressive and classic styling with world-class handling, amazing technology and big horsepower. And with that formula, Mustang is a serious choice for any performance car enthusiasts. For 2018, Ford鈥檚 pony takes a giant gallop forward with engine and transmission upgrades designed strike at the heart of Camaro and Challenger. We鈥檙e mainly talking about the latest version of the 5.0L Coyote that鈥檚 rated at 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft. Features include a very high-flow induction with four-valve per cylinder heads, 12:1 compression, aggressive cams, and a free-flow exhaust. 25,585 gets you behind the wheel of the 310 hp EcoBoost four-cylinder, that gets a serious bump in torque to 350 lb-ft. The turbo 鈥楽tang can ordered in a variety of packages, including the Performance Pack, which gives you improved suspension, Brembo brakes and 3.73:1 rear gearing on the manual (3.55 with the auto).
While quick, the 5.0L Coyote is in another league. It purrs loudly through the new, optional Active exhaust and the bark is backed up with serious bite鈥攁s we recently found out while testing one at the strip. Ford also spent time perfecting the transmissions, as both the EcoBoost and the GT can be ordered with a revised six-speed manual or the all-new SelectShift ten-speed automatic. You may remember Car Craft recently tested the 2018 EcoBoost and the GT during Ford鈥檚 official press launch in Los Angeles. Both models carved canyon roads well, providing a full day of extreme fun. We even tried out the 鈥楧rag Mode鈥?on a strip of clear pavement. It felt the amazing, with crisp upshifts, but the short squirt didn鈥檛 compare to a real-world drag strip test. It didn鈥檛 take much prodding for Ford鈥檚 PR team to offer us a brand-new GT for testing. We were sure to request ten-speed automatic (since we felt it would be quicker than the stick) and the Performance Pack, which got us the 3.55 axle ratio (3.15 is standard with the automatic).
