2019 Mercedes-Benz C-class Coupe And Cabriolet
The coupe and cabriolet versions of the Mercedes-Benz C-class and the Mercedes-AMG C43 have come due for their mid-cycle facelift, examples of which will grace the Mercedes stand at the New York auto show later this month. You will be forgiven if you don't quite see the difference, because the changes are modest. That claim is bolstered by a slight power increase for both engines. The Mercedes-Benz C300's turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four is bumped from 241 horsepower at 5500 rpm to 255 horsepower, available from 5800 to 6100 rpm. Maximum torque remains at 273 lb-ft, now served up from 1800 to 4000 rpm instead of the previous 1300 to 4000 revs. The Mercedes-AMG C43's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 previously made 362 horsepower at 5500 rpm; thanks to new turbos, output increases to 385 horsepower at a lofty 6100 rpm. Maximum torque remains at 384 lb-ft, but while it was previously delivered at 2000 rpm, it will henceforth be available between 2500 and 5000 rpm. Getting those optimal revs should pose no problem, courtesy of the nine-speed automatic transmission that is standard on all C-class models. The sprint from zero to 60 mph takes a claimed 5.9 seconds for the C300 coupe; the C43 coupe is said to reach 60 in 4.5 seconds. The C300 cabriolet tacks on 0.2 second, while the C43 cabrio is 0.1 second behind the coupe. Top speed for all versions is governed at 130 mph.
Do not use a cleaner with any abrasive quality. Check your vehicle manual or the manufacturer's website before making a purchase. Again, the critical thing to avoid is any sort of abrasion. Start with a clean sponge. Make sure to keep it free of grit or gravel. Most any sponge will do but you might want to check out a car wash mitt. These are a great alternative to a sponge or rag. You'll want a lot of towels. Drying the car immediately will help avoid water spots. Many kinds of "shammys" are available. They are highly absorbent and non-abrasive. Use separate towels for wiping the tire rims. Waxing is a labor of love. A little elbow grease will make a big difference. This will protect the paint job, keep dirt and grime from clinging to the finish, and give you a shine to be proud of. These basic items will get you through the car washing smoothly. Additionally, metal polish, tire cleaner, and bug remover might also come in handy. One bit of advice, don't rub your car the wrong way. Whenever you are cleaning, drying, or wiping use a circular motion. This will work best and help you avoid scratching the finish. If you discover scratches in the finish don't freak out. There are electric buffers you can purchase to take care of the problem yourself. However, it might be best to go to a local repair shop that is familiar with the finishes on European cars. They will have the tools and know-how to get rid of the scratches quickly without causing any more damage.
Don't worry. Cars haven't been driven off the roads by sportutility vehicles, pickups and minivans yet. Shoppers will find that more than 40 percent of the major new models for 2001 are cars with added horsepower. A high-performance Chevrolet Corvette Z06, for example, is new for 2001, while the revamped Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedans come with engines that offer more power than ever before. Major new SUVs and crossover vehicles make up about a quarter of the new models as 2001 marks the arrival of the Audi Allroad Quattro and the Sequoia, the biggest SUV at Toyota. Shoppers will find that another one-fifth of the major new models are pickup trucks. The Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet S-10 and GMC Sonoma all add four-door versions in 2001 and Nissan's Frontier becomes supercharged. There are minivan developments, too, as all of DaimlerChrysler's models are revamped this year and General Motors Corp.'s minivans add new features. Last but not least, a new gasoline-electric hybrid is on sale. The 2001 Toyota Prius promises combined fuel economy of nearly 50 miles per gallon -- a noteworthy feature. Respected outdoor outfitter L.L. Bean is teaming with Subaru. The first vehicle to wear the L.L. Bean name debuts as a 2001 model. The Subaru Outback H6-3.0 L.L. Bean Edition comes with Subaru's first horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine. The 3-liter, double overhead cam powerplant puts out 212 horses and 210 foot-pounds of torque. But there's more. The L.L. Bean Edition includes two moonroofs, leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, all-wheel-drive, limited slip differential, mahogany wood and leather Momo steering wheel, side air bags, automatic climate control and even a three-year scheduled maintenance package -- all standard.
Mercedes-Benz has given the C-class a mid-life facelift, and to freshen things up, it gets cosmetic updates and some feature additions. However, the highlight is its all-new BS-VI-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine, available in two states of tune - 194hp and 245hp, in its 220d and 300d guise, respectively. Ride comfort has also improved over the outgoing car. The C 220d gets smaller 16- or 17-inch wheels (while the 300d gets 18-inchers), so the initial layer of firmness is taken care of rather well. Though the suspension is firmly set-up, it still doesn鈥檛 crash through potholes; and while it remains flat and composed at higher speeds, its low-speed rides are busy, and passengers get tossed over broken roads. The steering is direct and it鈥檚 well-weighted, and with power being transmitted to the rear wheels, the C 220d is quite enjoyable around corners. The interior remains constant across the C-class range, apart from certain trim bits and materials. Its backseat isn鈥檛 the most comfortable and the spare wheel鈥檚 location on the boot floor eats into space. The 220d misses out on body kit, bigger wheels and other cosmetic bits that the 300d gets, inside and out. These aside, the 220d offers all the equipment like LED headlamps, a sunroof, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, seven airbags, a parking camera, and more. Even in its 194hp state of tune, it doesn鈥檛 feel weak or lethargic, and it鈥檒l please owners when they occasionally get behind the wheel. The C 220d then seems to be the more rounded package in the range, and with better refinement and improved ride comfort over the outgoing car, this refreshed C 220d is a nice mid-life upgrade.
The Indian auto industry has emerged as a 鈥榮unrise sector鈥?in the country鈥檚 economy. India is emerging as one of the world鈥檚 fastest growing passenger car markets, and second largest two-wheeler manufacturer. Mahindra Scorpio has been one of those SUVs in the Indian market which has ruled the roads for a long time by continuously refreshing itself with advanced equipment while its design remained unbeaten. It is one of the first cars with BS IV emission compliance in the country. Introduction of micro hybrid technology was another major advancement in the Scorpio. After thrilling consumers for a period of eight years, the upgraded Innova now comes with a more contemporary and grand look. Toyota has managed to sell more than 4.5 lakh units of the Innova in India, till date. The Japanese car maker has genuinely worked on aesthetics and equipment for the new MPV. Hyundai has been the most successful contender in the small car segment for more than a decade now.
