Hurricane Florence has come and gone, leaving much destruction and devastation in its wake. According to some estimates, total property damage and disruption costs will be in the region of $17 billion to $22 billion. As was the case with Hurricane Harvey exactly a year ago, there are some automakers offering discounts to those whose vehicles were totaled by the deadly storm. CarsDirect has compiled a list, which could still be ongoing, of the brands who are currently offering disaster relief discounts.
First up is Fiat Chrysler. It is offering a $500 bonus toward the lease or purchase of most of its models for residents of North and South Carolina. This bonus can be combined with most other offers through January 2, 2019. What vehicles are not included? The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, all SRT models, Wranglers, and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV. For some reason, the following vehicles are also excluded: Chrysler Pacifica L, Jeep Cherokee Latitude, Jeep Compass Sport, and Dodge Challenger SXT. As long as you’re not buying any of these, residents need to provide a valid insurance claim proving damage as a result of the hurricane.
Next on the list is Ford and Lincoln with the “Hurricane Disaster Relief Family Pricing” plan. It’s basically the same as the company’s Employee Pricing plan, which is about as good you can get. As an added bonus, Ford Credit is offering a 120-day deferred payment option. Not surprisingly, vehicles like the Focus RS, F-150 Raptor, and Mustang Shelby GT are not eligible.
Not to be outdone by its two Detroit rivals, GM’s Disaster Relief Bonus provides an extra $1,000 toward purchases and $500 for leases. Again, an insurance claim is required. All GM brands, Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac are eligible and the offer can be combined with other incentives. The offer is good until the end of this month and applies to residents of North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.
Lastly, at least for now, is Hyundai and Genesis. Residents of the Carolinas as well as Virginia only need to provide an insurance company letter detailing the make and model of the vehicle totaled from the storm. In turn, these buyers will receive a $750 coupon and a 90-day payment deferral option, which is only available when financing with Hyundai Motor Finance. There are no model exclusions and the offer is good until January 2, 2019.
