In a recent press release it was announc- ed that the five-passenger crossover, the Buick Enclave, will arrive in 2010 sporting a new hybrid plug-in system. By 2011 GM expects the plug-in hybrid to debut with much fanfare as the first commercially available plug-in hybrid SUV produced by a major automaker. The gas-electric Buick will use LG Chem lithium-ion batteries that can be recharged in only four to five hours. It can be fully recharged by connecting the vehicle to any 110V electrical outlet.
In addition to the batter pack, the Buick plug-in will have two electric motors, electronic controls, and an efficient direct-injected 3.6L V-6 flex-fuel engine.
