Here’s a dream scenario. There’s a BMW M6 GT3 racer painted as yellow as a bee sitting on a brand new never before used race track that’s just itching to be primed with a coat of rubber. And what do you know? Out of the blue comes a red BMW M6 tuned by racing team and BMW aficionados Turner Tuning. There’s not much to do with these cars except race them, and given their close relation, a comparison may even be in order.
Not that anyone would expect it to be a fair comparison. Even though both cars start their lives as BMW M6s, the end result couldn’t be more different.
The two share a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, but that’s pretty much where the similarities end. The BMW that’s been slated to live its entire life on a race track gets completely stripped, rebuilt, and slathered in a new body that later gets covered in sponsorship stickers. Then it gets detuned so that it can adhere to GT3 regulations. On the other hand, the other M6 gets to keep its heavy cooled seats, stereo system, and full suite of luxury amenities, except this time it gains 100 horsepower for a total of almost 700 ponies. But which is the best for the track? Let Matt Farah tell you.
