Pricing Announced For BMW X2 M35i

Configurator for the new M Performance crossover is now live.

If you've been thinking about picking up a new BMW X2, your choices have come down essentially to the sDrive28i and its all-wheel counterpart the xDrive28i – both with the same engine and the same output. But a couple of months ago, the Bavarian automaker revealed the X2 M35i. It just didn't tell us at the time how much it would cost. But now it has.

As our compatriots at CarsDirect discovered, the configurator for the X2 has been updated with the new performance model, and it starts at $46,450. That makes it just more than ten grand more expensive than the base version.

You get a lot more for the extra scratch, though. Like the existing 28i versions, the 2019 BMW X2 M35i packs a 2.0-liter turbo four. But instead of 228 horsepower, this one kicks out 302. On a strict dollars-per-horsepower basis, that makes the M35i version a better deal than the sDrive28i, let alone the xDrive28i that comes two grand closer to the performance model's list price (which includes all-wheel drive as standard). And that extra power drops the 0-60 mph time from 6.6 seconds down to 4.9.

But there's more to the X2 M35i than what its power and performance stats will tell you.

It also packs an adaptive suspension, a new front diff, and similarly M-tuned steering system. Plus the M Performance version features a sportier-looking body kit, 19- (or available 20-) inch alloys, and an upgraded cabin with more heavily bolstered seats.

There are a few options that can raise the price higher, for those who have a little extra to spend – including a panoramic moonroof, Harman Kardon sound system, dynamic dampers, driving- and parking-assist systems, and a Premium Package. Check all the boxes and you'll soon be looking at nearly $55k for a fully loaded X2 M35i.
