SERVICE ACTION: Wheel Brace Incorrect Socket Dimension



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:



LR2 (LF) VIN: AH153302 - AH163982



Model Year: 2010



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



A limited number of 2010 model year LR2 vehicles within the above VIN range may have a wheel nut wrench which may be the incorrect size for



the wheel nuts on the vehicle.



Action:



Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new



or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Vehicles must not be released until inspection, and



replacement if necessary, of the wheel nut wrench. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At



the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time



and resources to complete all campaigns. For cars in Retailer inventory, this Service Action should be performed in conjunction with the vehicle



Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).

NOTE:



Always check DDW to verify that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to undertaking any repair. Some vehicles within the VIN range



will have been repaired in port. DDW will reflect only those vehicle affected and unrepaired.



NOTE:

refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.



Warranty claims should be submitted quoting the Program Code 'Q078' together with the relevant Option Code, resulting in payment of the stated



time. As Option Codes are used, there is no requirement to enter the SRO information; this is repeated here for information only. The Option Codes



that contain drive in / drive out can only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.



This Service Action is valid for a limited time only and will expire 30 November 2011. All Warranty claims must be submitted for payment within



30 calendar days of completion of the repair.



Repair Procedure



REMOVE AND INSPECT WHEEL BRACE



1. Open liftgate.



2. Lift and hold up the luggage load board:



^ Using the red hook to hold up, place the hook over the seal on the upper edge of the boot opening. (Figure 1)



3. Unscrew the large lower wheel securing ring until it spins freely. (Figure 2)

4. Unscrew the upper ring completely. (Figure 3)



5. Remove the securing rod completely to allow for wheel removal. (Figure 4)



6. Place the securing rod into the left-hand side pocket. (Figure 5)



CAUTION:



Do not drag the wheel; lift the wheel out of the vehicle.



7. With assistance, lift the wheel straight upwards to clear the jack. (Figure 6)

Place the wheel on a suitable surface; do not to cause damage to the wheel.



8. With assistance lift the wheel clear of the vehicle. (Figure 7)



9. Using the chrome lever loosen the jack fixing and remove the wheel brace. (Figure 8)



10. Check the fitment of the wheel brace on the vehicle wheel nut. (Figure 9)



^ If the wheel brace does not fit the wheel nut, record the four-digit date code and replace with a new wheel brace (LR003271). (Figure 10)



^ If the wheel brace does not fit the wheel nut and the date code is not 0609, please submit details of the date code via EPQR system and replace



with a new wheel brace (LR003271).

11. Check the new wheel brace fitment on the vehicle wheel nut. (Figure 9)



INSTALL WHEEL BRACE



1. Install the wheel brace:



^ Ensure the white washer is in place on threaded securing rod. (Figure 11)



^ Ensure the brace is clipped onto the winding handle by the black plastic clip. (Figure 12)



^ Check the anti-rattle elastic band is fitted in the position shown. (Figure 13)



^ Ensure the anti-rattle sponge is fitted on the socket head of brace and is located centrally under the winding handle. (Figure 14)



CAUTION:



Do not drag the wheel; lift the wheel into the vehicle.

2. With assistance lift the wheel into the vehicle. (Figure 16)



3. Ensure the spare wheel is located correctly. (Figure 17)



4. Install the securing rod.



CAUTION:



Do not over tighten.



5. Install the large lower wheel securing ring completely. (Figure 18)



CAUTION:



Do not over tighten.

6. Install the upper ring completely. (Figure 19)



7. Unhook the luggage load board and place back over the spare wheel.
