Body Harness Overlay



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:



LR2 (LF) VIN: 8H000299 - Onwards



Model Year: 2008 - Onwards



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



Should there be a requirement to perform a repair to the Supplementary Restraints System (SRS) section of the vehicle wiring harness where



Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) B1126-13 and Bi127-13 may be stored in the Restraints Control Module (RCM), there are new overlay harnesses



available to ensure right first time robust repair.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to install SRS / body harness overlay harnesses.

Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always



refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.



DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.



REPAIR PROCEDURE



INSTALL SRS / BODY HARNESS OVERLAY HARNESSES



1. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 414-00: Battery and Charging System - General Information, and disconnect the battery ground cable.



2. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 100-00: Service In formation, and make the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) safe.



3. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentation, and remove both Cowl Side Plate Trim Panels.



4. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentation, and remove both Front Scuff Plate Trim Panels.



5. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentation, and remove both Front Seats.



6. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 307-05: Automatic Transmission / Transaxle External Controls, and remove the Selector Lever Assembly



7. Re-position the carpet.



8. Release the harness cover: (Figure 1)



^ Repeat to the other side.

The smaller electrical connector on the RCM is released for access only. There is no re-work required for this connector.



9. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the Restraints Control Module (RCM). (Figure 2)



10. Remove the anti-back out devices from the three connectors.



NOTE:



Refer to the Body Harness Pin / Color Location Chart prior to removing any pins from the RCM.



NOTE:



Make sure that the colour of the new harness insulation is the same as the harness being replaced.



NOTE:



Only remove one pin at a time.



11. Install the overlay harnesses to the driver's seat connector.



^ Note the fitted position and colors of each harness before backing out the pin.



^ Using a suitable tool, back out the appropriate pin from the driver's seat connector.



^ Install the new overlay harness to the appropriate pin position.



^ Repeat for the other harness.



NOTE:



Make sure that the colour of the new harness insulation is the same as the harness being replaced.



NOTE:



Only remove one pin at a time.



12. Install the overlay harnesses to the passenger's seat connector.



^ Note the fitted position and colors of each harness before backing out the pin.



^ Using a suitable tool, back out the appropriate pin from the passenger's seat connector.



^ Install the new overlay harness to the appropriate pin position.



^ Repeat for the other harness.

13. Route the four overlay harnesses along the existing main body harness to the RCM. (Figure 3)



NOTE:



Make sure that the colour of the new harness insulation is the same as the harness being replaced.



NOTE:



Only remove one pin at a time.



14. Install the overlay harnesses to the RCM connector.



^ Note the fitted position and colors of each harness before backing out the pin.



^ Using a suitable tool, back out the appropriate pin from the RCM connector.



^ Install the new overlay harness to the appropriate pin position.



^ Repeat for the three other harnesses.



15. Install the anti-back out devices to the three connectors.



NOTE:



Make sure that the ends of the old harness are secured to the main body harness and are not able to make contact with the body of the vehicle.



16. Using suitable tape, secure the ends of the old harnesses to the main body harness.

17. Using suitable tape, secure the new overlay harnesses to the main body harness at suitable intervals. (Figure 4)



18. To install, reverse steps 9 through 1.



19. Check that the SRS lamp operates correctly.
