2022 GMC Sierra HD Gets Limited Heated Rear Seat Availability

Text
Certain 2022 GMC Sierra HD models will have restricted availability of the Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature, GM Authority has learned. The limited availability of the feature stems from the ongoing global microchip shortage.
The Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature for the 2022 GMC Sierra HD is tagged with RPO code KA6, and is offered as part of the SLT Convenience Package (RPO code PCY) for Sierra HD SLT Crew Cab models. Heated Second Row Outboard Seats are also standard on GMC Sierra HD AT4 and Denali trim levels, both Crew Cab be default.
However, as a result of the global microchip shortage, some units of the 2022 GMC Sierra HD normally equipped with Heated Second Row Outboard Seats will not come with the feature. Affected units are those produced after July 26th.
Customers who purchase a 2022 GMC Sierra HD that is affected by the reduced availability of the Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature will receive a $200 MSRP credit.
A similar issue is affecting certain units of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, which is also offering limited availability of the Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature.
The global microchip shortage has affected the availability of other 2022 GMC Sierra HD features as well, including HD Radio, which has been deleted from the feature list outright, as GM Authority covered previously. For the moment, there is no clear indication whether or not HD Radio will return to the feature list during the 2022 model year for the GMC Sierra HD.
Production of the 2022 GMC Sierra HD at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan began on July 12th. At the moment, General Motors is seeking to increase the number of temporary workers at the facility. Production of the GMC Sierra HD is expected to ramp up later this year following the re-opening of the GM Oshawa plant in Ontario, Canada.
