Electrical - Battery Drain After iPod Installation

Subject
Battery draw since the iPod is installed.
Affected vehicles:
R50 (MINI Cooper) with option 657 and option 650 (ALPINE CD53 radio)
R52 (MINI Cooper Conv., MINI Cooper S Conv.) with option 657 and option 650 (ALPINE CD53 radio)
R53 (MINI Cooper S) with option 657 and option 650 (ALPINE CD53 radio)
Complaint
Vehicle will not start, battery is discharged since the iPod is installed in the vehicle.
It doesn't matter if the iPod is connected or disconnected to the vehicle.
Cause
Synchronization error in the ALPINE CD53 radio.
Measure
Do not replace any parts.
As soon as an updated ALPINE CD53 radio is available we will update this Measure.
Meanwhile inform the customer:
To avoid connectivity or other problems the customer should please follow the connecting & disconnecting procedures outlined in the iPod owners
manual.

To avoid the synchronization error, the radio has to be turned OFF before disconnecting the iPod from the vehicle.
