New Alfa Romeo GTV

As per their guidelines released at the beginning of summer, Alfa Romeo has an assortment of vehicles in the pipeline. Among them is an entirely new GTV, which will take on the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe, Audi RS5 and BMW M4. Underpinned by the same platform as the Giulia, the upcoming GTV will, in all likelihood, use the same Ferrari-developed twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 as the Quadrifoglio models. The unit makes 510 PS and 600 Nm of torque and allows the premium compact sports sedan to go to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and up to 307 km/h. In the new GTV, however, the internal combustion engine will be backed up by an electric motor, which will give it in excess of 600 horses. Moreover, according to Car Magazine, the car should be able to travel for some 50 km in electric mode. The upcoming Alfa Romeo GTV, which is expected in 2021, will be reportedly followed by a Spider, some 18 months later. The pair will slot below the new 8C and will be offered with all-wheel drive in their most potent form. However, lesser models will probably have to make do with rear-wheel drive, unlike the long-defunct GTV, which came only with FWD, or the Brera that was front- or all-wheel drive.
