There Can Only Be One Top Gear Performance Car Of The Year

Chris Harris will be more than happy to find a winner.

Every year Top Gear has its Speed Week competition, with the goal of determining the Performance Car of the Year. It’s a hard job and all, but Chris Harris is more than up for the task. We all wish we could join him. Let’s just say that 2017 was an absolutely brilliant year for performance car reveals, putting it mildly. Why’s that? Here’s your answer: Ford GT, Lamborghini Huracan Performante, McLaren 720S, and a new Porsche 911 GT3 and its most serious rival ever, the Mercedes-AMG GT R.

Oh, and let’s not forget the less expensive, but certainly no lightweight Honda Civic Type R. There’s also the first-ever Mercedes-AMG E63 with all-wheel drive, the not for the faint hearted BMW M4 CS, the stunningly styled Lexus LC500, and the 602 hp Audi R8 Plus Spyder.

Yeah, quite a list of competitors indeed. Fortunately, we can all follow Harris, who did the testing at the Knockhill circuit in Scottland in his quest to determine a winner beginning today and ending on November 1st. This is going to be one hell of a competition and a wonderful amount of sheer car porn. In the meantime, let us know your predictions. Which car do you think will take home the ultimate prize?
