Recall 00V203000: Seat Belt Warning Chime Modification
Certain passenger vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of FMVSS No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." An audible seat belt buzzer
warning sounds for approximately two seconds when the vehicle ignition is turned to the on or start position and the driver seat belt is fastened. This
buzzer activation exceeds the limitations set forth in the standard.
Drivers may become confused regarding the purpose of the chime.
Dealers will repair the seat belt warning chime system.
Owner notification is expected to begin during November 2000. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service
date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372.
