At this point it鈥檚 pretty common knowledge that the Porsche Macan is based off the Audi Q5 platform. This concerns many Porsche fans who are afraid they are going to be paying for a rebadged Audi clone. After you take a look at the Macan and compare features this won鈥檛 be a concern for you any longer, because there really is no comparison. The Macan is built using some of Audi鈥檚 parts but is nearly 80 percent Porsche meaning that it has all the improvements and features that you would expect from a Porsche. The first thing you will notice is that the vehicles look completely different. They have different sheet metal and it鈥檚 simple to tell one from the other. Counter-intuitive to the Porsche way, the Macan is actually a little heavier than the Q5, but this is because of significant chassis and suspension improvements. This new and improved frame can support up to a 400 HP engine. Porsche has even gone as far as to move around some of the main support beams for the vehicle.
They changed the position of the front dash cross member to create a much different looking interior. The Audi eight speed torque converter is a pretty nice piece of technology, but it doesn鈥檛 stand up against the Porsche PDK dual clutch transmission. Porsche made sure to include their PDK in the Macan and it improves shift response and overall power and handling. If you were to drive both vehicles back to back you wouldn鈥檛 know they were built on the same platform, and the transmission is one of the main reasons that they feel different. The Macan is also going to be fitted with purely Porsche engines, which offer signature Porsche power and performance. There will be a turbo option as well as a standard option, and there may also be a diesel engine option, but that information has not yet been released. If you decide to buy the Macan over the Q5 you aren鈥檛 spending extra money for simply a Porsche badge. You are paying for a near-complete redesign of the vehicle with improvements made all over the place. The Macan looks, sounds, and performs just like other Porsche vehicles do and it is clearly not an Audi clone, like so many people seem to believe.
German executive auto manufacturer Mercedes-Benz introduced their flagship sports car, the AMG GT to the automotive universe in September, 2014 but it was officially unveiled by Mercedes-Benz at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. However, if the range topping Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R and GT R Roadster is not exciting enough for you, the world of aftermarket tuning may just have the perfect solution for this problem. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the G-Power Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R and it is on an entirety new level of insane. To be more specific, tuning firm G-Power has designed and developed four new performance upgrades which will increase the overall power output of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R's 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged, V8 engine. The end result is nothing short of amazing, with G-Power's "Performance Software V4" package equipped, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R's 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivers a back breaking 789 hp (589 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. Due to the 212 hp (158 kW) power increase and 150 Nm torque increase, G-Power have reinforced the standard seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission which continues to send all available power directly to the rear wheels.
The companies' 450kW (kilowatt) FastCharge system - while still a prototype - trebles the charge rates of the world鈥檚 rapid chargers鈥?at present, and promises 鈥渢o make charging electric vehicles as fast and convenient as fuelling with petrol鈥? While not technically a 鈥榝ull鈥?charge, this is representative of a full charge in real-world conditions, as manufacturers advise against recharging to 100 per cent, and most owners are unlikely to allow their batteries to drop below 10 per cent. The new FastCharge system鈥檚 prototype nature is most evident in the capability of current EVs鈥?ability to accepet ultrafast charge rates, however. BMW has developed the technology in conjunction with Porsche, Siemens, Allego and Phoenix Contact E-Mobility, receiving 拢7million from the German transport ministry to help fund the project. BMW says the project has seen it 鈥渢est the limits of the fast-charging capacity demonstrated by vehicle batteries鈥?thanks, in part, to the energy supply system delivered by Seimens. Do you agree with BMW and Porsche, is a 450kW charger as fast and convenient as filling-up with petrol?
The Lexus RX is a luxurious mid-size family crossover with seating for five, and it's one of Toyota's best-selling models. It's the most-affordable Lexus crossover in the lineup, and it's loosely related to the Toyota Highlander, Venza, Avalon and Camry. Over the past decade, in wealthier areas especially, the Lexus RX has become as ubiquitous as some minivan models and is without a doubt the least exclusive (and best-selling) Lexus model. That said, the RX has been a luxury-vehicle benchmark and has taken on a wide range of models, including the Acura MDX, BMW X5, Hyundai Veracruz, Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, Audi Q7, and Lincoln MKX. The first-generation RX 300, introduced for 1999, was offered in only one trim, with a limited number of options, and included the same 220-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 that was featured in the ES 300 sedan. Power was delivered with a four-speed automatic transmission through either front- or all-wheel drive.
