Audi鈥檚 a7 didn鈥檛 start the coupe-like sedan trend, but with its muscular proportions, beautiful surfacing and kammback rear it managed to make us almost. Another auto show, another audi q8 concept. 8 concept was one of the stars of audi鈥檚 detroit show lineup, highlighting a dramatic change in design. The upcoming audi q6 is the brand's high-tech green showcase. The audi q7 is a large size luxury crossover suv of the german manufacturer audi, unveiled in september 2002 at the frankfurt motor show. We are quite sure the us 2018 audi q2 is not going to receive the 1.0-liter turbo three currently on offer on the european market.
If there is a weak spot, it remains the automatic transmission. In general, it maintains relaxed progress in a refined fashion, but the slightest attempt to hurry the car along a twisty road can still flummox the software and see it scrabbling for a gear. It鈥檚 particularly prone to kicking down two ratios when it鈥檇 be easier, and smoother, to drop just one and ride along on the engine鈥檚 torque (there鈥檚 500Nm, after all). That鈥檚 just what you鈥檒l end up doing if (when) you resort to using the steering wheel paddles and manual mode on more challenging roads. This will continue to be a vehicle that you don鈥檛 really choose with practicality in mind, but the 591-litre boot capacity is around 10 per cent up on the old car鈥檚. That鈥檚 enough for a decent-sized suitcase and a couple of overnight bags, or a full set of golf clubs. The rear seat splits 40:20:40 (another useful touch) and if it鈥檚 lowered completely, there are 1,383 litres at your disposal. Cabin space has been improved by the longer wheelbase, but you shouldn鈥檛 expect limousine-style accommodation in the back.
While you can just about get four six-footers on board, those in the rear will feel slightly snug for leg and kneeroom. Our car, an S, had the InControl Dual Touch Pro infotainment system fitted as an option. It鈥檚 better than ever, but that doesn鈥檛 mean that it鈥檚 top of the class just yet. It can be rather slow to respond to inputs and the interface remains a little bit clunky, with curious animated transitions that do little but hold you up. At least the Android and Apple connectivity now gives you the chance to bypass the in-car system for navigation and music streaming. The digital rear-view mirror is a useful addition, too - and we can see plenty of Evoque customers ticking that box on the options list. It uses a wide-view camera in the aerial fin on the car鈥檚 roof to get around the fact that, thanks to the subtle evolution of the car鈥檚 design, it鈥檚 still hard to see out of the narrow rear window. You can flick the display back to a regular mirror if you want - but during our two days with the car, we never felt inclined to do this, such is the clarity and extra expanse of the digital view.
The art behind a Porsche redesign is rarely visual. That鈥檚 not to say that Porsche design isn鈥檛 art. In the eyes of some beholders, the brand makes the most beautiful cars on the planet. But the German brand鈥檚 designers, for the most part, have that timeless appearance nearly perfected. When moving from one generation of model to the next, few things change because there is rarely need or call for it. A Porsche looks the way it looks, to the delight of the company鈥檚 devotees. To understand what makes an updated Porsche stand out, it鈥檚 therefore often necessary to look well beneath the surface. Take the new Cayenne. It starts with revised powertrains. In the Cayenne S, a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 is traded in for a 2.9-litre six-cylinder hot-V engine, which means that the two turbochargers are positioned between the cylinders for better efficiency and performance. It also delivers a 14-horsepower increase to a total of 434 to go with the same 406 pound-feet of torque. The Cayenne Turbo houses a hot-V as well, trading its 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 for a 4.0-litre, while horsepower goes up to 541 from 520, and torque increases from 553 to 568 pound-feet.
