Porsche Cayman GT4 Track Build

Slideshow: The Cayman GT4 in came out of the factory a serious track day machine. But this build takes the mid-engine Porsche to an entirely new level. Since 2005, BBi Autosport has been putting magic into Porsches to extract better and better track times. The team has been fabricating exhaust systems and other products over the years. Their network grows has been growing over time, and they have been cranking out some of the most fierce track-focused Porsches we've seen over the years. They now have a CNC machine to facilitate R&D and their in-house fabrication capabilities. For this project, the weekend track warrior of choice would be a white Porsche Cayman GT4. Numerous upgrades including those to the suspension, the brakes, and the transmission were put in place to push the Cayman platform vehicle to its absolute limits. The motor got a few upgrades to crank out the extra ponies, giving the Cayman the added power for use on the track. The upgrades included IPD and Cobb Power Package (IPD Competition Intake Plenum and GT3 82mm Throttle Body), along with SP Motorsport's lightweight clutch & flywheel kit. These weight savings help to immensely improve throttle response. Power is presented to the pavement with the addition of a Guard Transmission Pro LSD. An "LSD" or limited slip differential allows both wheels to spin concurrently allowing for more linear power delivery. A proper suspension lends a lot of support in making sure the car stays planted as it delivers power to the ground. The front suspension upgrades included BBi's own bump steer kit as well as adjustable thrust arms and bushings along with lower control arm bearing end kits.

The rear suspension upgrades include BBi's adjustable thrust arms and bushings along with lower control arm bearing end link kits. These components help to eliminate bump steer by maintaining proper front end suspension geometry. These were also paired up with Tarett Engineering adjustable sway bar end links both at the front and rear. BBi Autosport also supplied the car with upper shock mounts. This car has received BBi's own Safety Package which includes a bolt-on roll bar, sub-strap mount, and Schroth 6-point harnesses to properly secure the driver and provide additional protection. Once the car was completed, it was unleashed for a track day at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Sacramento Valley, California. The track is the venue for the longest automobile race in the United States, "the 25 Hours of Thunderhill", held in December every year. In this picture, you'll notice the car sits lower than your standard GT4 and with the BBS E88s, the combination is a killer look both on and off the track.

Crew member Colin will swap his Porsche Cayman S with a Carrera GT once the player purchases a tier 3 vehicle. The Carrera GT appears in Need for Speed Carbon: Own the City and is unlocked after Clutch is defeated in the PlayStation Portable release. It is unlocked in the Gameboy Advance release after MK is defeated as it replaces the Carrera S featured in the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS releases. The Carrera GT appears in Need for Speed: ProStreet as a tier 3 vehicle. It's down on power compared to other supercars but its focus on handling makes it best utilised in Grip and Speed events. It has better stock acceleration statistics than in previous titles and can still reach a high top speed (241 mph/388 km/h). However, when compared to the rest of tier 1, the Carrera GT lacks in both aspects. The Carrera GT is featured in Need for Speed: Shift as a tier 4 vehicle.

It's a great vehicle within its range although both the Pagani Zonda F and McLaren F1 have better performance ratings. The Carrera GT appears in the Nintendo DS release of Need for Speed: Nitro. The Carrera GT was first made available in Need for Speed: World on September 27th, 2012 as an S class car. The Carrera GT was first shown in the first trailer for Need for Speed: World, and was later included in a screenshot released on August 2nd, 2012 as part of a preview for the upcoming Drag game mode. It was added to the game on August 22nd, 2012 but only appeared as an AI controlled rival in singleplayer races. The Carrera GT is focused on handling rather than power. It is responsive at any speed and has good traction. Its handling is up to par with any A Class Porsche 911 and S Class car such as the Pagani Zonda Cinque.
