Porsche 997 Overview

In 2009 Porsche saw it fit to make several comprehensive changes to the 997 lineup, some of these changes included several small styling changes. The engine saw improvement, with increases in engine displacement across the board, the addition of Gasoline direct injection. Porsche also introduced the company's new dual clutch transmission known as Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) as well as other mechanical changes. Consequently, the updated Porsche 997 models are lighter, faster and even more fuel efficient in relative to the previous models. This was all done to improve one's driving experience, by an increase in the power of the 997, along with better road addling. With regards to the 997 Turbo, Porsche did a comprehensive re-tuning of the all wheel drive system with an optional "torque vectoring" system which was also added to the upgraded package. Engines & Power: The Turbo S Cabriolet and Turbo S Coupe have a 3.6L 444 hp H6T engine, Horsepower 444 hp @ 5,700 RPM with 475 lb-ft @ 3,500 RPM of Torque. If you want something with the capabilities of a 911 but very different aesthetics, slide over to a Mercedes-Benz dealer and have a look at the AMG GT coupe and convertible. With a big V-8 up front, just two seats and proportions that couldn鈥檛 be more different, it鈥檚 an alternative take on the expensive personal luxury sports car. Jaguar鈥檚 F-Type is less expensive in its base models but can easily approach the 911 Turbo鈥檚 top price tag in higher-spec SVR versions. If you鈥檙e less concerned about badge cachet at the valet, you can opt for a Nissan GT-R, which undercuts the Porsche on price but easily keeps up with it on a racetrack or canyon road. Compare all four vehicles here. We鈥檙e likely to see a new Porsche 911 in the next year or two, which will hopefully address the lacking safety systems in this one. As for the rest of the car, there are few vehicles on the planet that can match the 911 Turbo S鈥?combination of sheer ability, comfortable surroundings and earned pedigree. There鈥檚 a reason any 911 is an aspirational vehicle for so many auto enthusiasts 鈥?it delivers on all fronts better than just about any other sports car out there.
