Bulletin No.: 10022
Date: February 04, 2010
Subject: 10022 - Incorrect Vehicle Emission Control Information Label - Install New Label
Models:
2010 Cadillac SRX
Equipped with 2.8L Turbo-Charged Engine (LAU)
This recall requires the installation of a Vehicle Emission Control Information Label. When ordering the label, the VIN is required.
Customers have been advised to provide the VIN of their vehicle so that the label can be ordered and available on the day of their service
appointment.
THIS RECALL IS IN EFFECT UNTIL AUGUST 31, 2010.
Condition
General Motors has decided that certain 2010 Cadillac SRX vehicles equipped with a 2.8L Turbo-Charged engine (RPO LAU) were built with an
incorrect Vehicle Emission Control Information Label. The label mis-identifies the emissions test group.
Correction
Dealers are to install a new Vehicle Emission Control Information Label.
Vehicles Involved
Involved are certain 2010 model year Cadillac SRX vehicles equipped with a 2.8L Turbo-Charged engine (RPO LAU), and built within these VIN
breakpoints:
Important
Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using GMVIS (dealers using WINS) or the Investigate Vehicle
History link (dealers using GWM). Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and
address information has been prepared and will be provided to US and Canadian dealers through the GM GlobalConnect Recall Reports. Dealers
will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.
The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle
registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this recall is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries.
Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this recall.
Parts Information
Labels required to complete this recall are to be obtained from General Motors Service and Parts Operations (GMSPO). Please refer to your
"involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency
situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

Service Procedure
1. Open the hood.
2. Locate the existing Vehicle Emission Control Information Label (1) on the underside of the hood.
3. Remove the existing label by peeling off the surface. Some label residue/glue may remain on hood surface; this is ok. Do not attempt to clean
the label area.
4. Remove the backing from the new label and carefully align new label to the original area of old label so that it covers any existing residue.
The label should be topside up and readable when the hood is open.
Note
Do not attempt to remove or loosen the new label once it has been applied, as this may deface the label.
5. Beginning at the center of the label and using a clean, dry cloth, smooth and secure the new label. Any air bubbles can be removed by
puncturing with a pin and smoothing with the cloth.
Claim Information
1. Submit a claim using the table below.
Customer Notification
General Motors will notify customers of this recall on their vehicle (see copy of customer letter shown in this bulletin).
In order to ensure full protection under the emission warranty, and the right to participate in future recalls, the customer notification letter
recommends that customers have their vehicles serviced as soon as possible. It also advises that failure to do so could legally be determined to be
lack of proper maintenance.
Dealer Recall Responsibility
All unsold new vehicles in dealers' possession and subject to this recall must be held and inspected/repaired per the service procedure of this recall
bulletin before customers take possession of these vehicles.
Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this recall at no charge to customers, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, through
August 31, 2010.
Customers who have recently purchased vehicles sold from your vehicle inventory, and for which there is no customer information indicated on the
dealer listing, are to be contacted by the dealer. Arrangements are to be made to make the required correction according to the instructions
contained in this bulletin. A copy of the customer letter is provided in this bulletin for your use in contacting customers. Recall follow-up cards
should not be used for this purpose, since the customer may not as yet have received the notification letter.
In summary, whenever a vehicle subject to this recall enters your vehicle inventory, or is in your dealership for service prior to August 31, 2010,
you must take the steps necessary to be sure the recall correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.

Dear General Motors Customer:
This notice is sent to inform you that General Motors is conducting a voluntary emission recall that includes your vehicle.
Reason For This Recall: General Motors has decided that certain 2010 model year Cadillac SRX vehicles, equipped with a 2.8L turbo-charged
engine, were built with an incorrect Vehicle Emission Control Information Label. The label misidentifies the emissions test group.
What Will Be Done: Your Cadillac dealer will install a new Vehicle Emission Control Information Label. This service will be performed for you
at no charge until August 31, 2010.
How Long Will The Repair Take? Because of service scheduling requirements, it is likely that your dealer will need your vehicle longer than the
actual service correction time of approximately 15 minutes.
What You Should Do: Please contact your Cadillac dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date. When scheduling your appointment,
please provide your dealer with your vehicle's 17-character vehicle identification number (VIN). Your VIN can be found above your name

it will be available on the day of your service appointment.
Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much time will be needed to
schedule, process, and install the label.
If you have any questions or need any assistance, just contact your dealer or the appropriate Customer Assistance Center at the number listed
below.
Emission Law Information: In order to ensure your full protection under the emission warranty made applicable to your vehicle by State and
Federal Law, and your right to participate in future recalls, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Failure to do
so could legally be determined to be lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle.
We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
