A few weeks after the arrival of the 2021 Chevy TrailBlazer SUV in Colombia, General Motors has just officially launched the new 2021 Chevy Tahoe in the South American country, one of the few in that region where the full-size SUV is marketed. The fifth-generation Tahoe strengthens Chevrolet’s solid utility portfolio as the brand’s flagship in the Colombian market.
Colombia becomes the second country in South America where the new 2021 Chevy Tahoe goes on sale, as its regional debut took place late last year when the SUV was launched alongside the Chevy Suburban in Chile. Previously, the new-generation Tahoe began a pre-order period in Bolivia, where GM does not have a direct presence, but instead relies on a local importer.
“The new Tahoe is versatile and advanced, with a bigger and more spacious cabin, and an improved drive with the efficiency and the technology that customers need,” said GM Colombia in a statement. “It’s a perfect truck for all the roads you want to discover, with greater capability, performance and bold design that’s hard to ignore,” added the automaker.
As in the Chilean market, the new 2021 Chevy Tahoe will arrive in Colombia exclusively in the off-road-oriented Z71 trim level. As such, the Tahoe units destined for the country are characterized by a blackout finish, increased off-road capabilities and a high level of standard features, although without the ability to be equipped with the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension.
From a mechanical standpoint, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe Z71 for the Colombian market features the well-known naturally aspirated, 5.3L L84 V8 engine that develops 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, mated to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the SUV comes standard with a 4WD system, a transfer case and four drive modes adapted for any type of terrain.
The 2021 Chevy Tahoe is already available in Colombia, where its main rivals will be the Ford Expedition and the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The Tahoe Z71 stands out for including next-generation connectivity, the most advanced safety features in its class and a five-year/100,000-kilometer warranty (whichever comes first). The lone Tahoe trim level’s MSRP is set at 285,000,000 COP, or about $74,500 USD at the current exchange rate.
