2022 GMC Sierra Limited Denali Gets Option Package Rename

Text
The 2022 model year ushers in the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited, a “stop-gap” model intended to bridge the gap between the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. Notably, the optional Denali Ultimate Package offered for the 2021 model year has been renamed with the introduction of the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited.
The Denali Ultimate Package offered with the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 has been renamed the Denali Reserve Package for the 2022 model year.
The renamed package has the same RPO code as before (PEC), and comes with the same content, including (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
As before, the package is offered as an optional extra for the Denali trim level on the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited.
When equipped on the two-wheel drive models, the package requires the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. Additionally, two-wheel drive models require 275/50R22SL all-season blackwall tires (RPO code XCE).
Equipped on four-wheel drive models, the package requires either the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, or the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, the latter of which is rated at 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm. Four-wheel drive models also require the 275/50R22SL all-season blackwall tires (RPO code XCE).
Notably, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited also introduces changes to the engine lineup for the off-road-ready AT4 trim level. Previously, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 was standard with the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84, while the 3.0L I6 LM2 diesel engine and naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 were offered as optional. Now, the 2022 GMC Sierra Limited AT4 offers the 3.0L I6 LM2  diesel as standard, while the 6.2L V8 L87 is optional.
