Suspension - Noise Over Bumps in Cold Weather

TECHNICAL

Bulletin No.: 10-03-08-001B

Date: November 02, 2011

Subject: Front Suspension Noise Over Bumps in Cold Weather (Install Revised Front Stabilizer Shaft Insulators)

Models:

2010-2011 Cadillac SRX

Supercede:

This bulletin is being revised to add VIN Breakpoints information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 10-03-08-001A (Section 03 -

Suspension).

Note

Vehicles produced after the VIN breakpoints listed above will have a revised stabilizer bar design with the bushing bonded to the stabilizer bar.

Please do not attempt to remove the bonded bushing to install new bushings.

Condition

Some customers may comment on a squeak, crunch, grunt or clunk noise coming from the front of the vehicle during suspension movement over

bumps. This condition is most noticeable after the vehicle soaks in temperatures below 0掳C (32掳F). After the vehicle warms up, the noise goes

away.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the interface between the front stabilizer shaft and the front stabilizer shaft insulators (bushings).

Correction

Remove the left and right front stabilizer insulators (bushings). Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement in SI. Wipe off the surface of the

stabilizer bar to remove any loose rubber or grease residue. Install the revised left and right stabilizer insulators (bushings). For installation

instructions, refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement in SI. Install the new service stabilizer insulators (bushings) so that the chamfer edge is

facing toward the outside of the vehicle. This will put the slits in the bushing facing opposite directions.
