Circuit/System Testing

Note: When removing connectors, inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the

affected component/connector:

* The impact sensor

* The SDM

* The impact sensor wiring harness connector

* The SDM wiring harness connector

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate impact sensor and the harness connector at the SDM.

2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.

瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.

3. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 V between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.

4. Test for less then 1 ohm between the appropriate low reference circuit terminal at the sensor and the appropriate low reference circuit

terminal at the SDM:

* Left Front Sensor - Low Reference circuit terminal 2 at the sensor and the low reference circuit terminal 24 X2 at the SDM.

* Right Front End Sensor - Low Reference circuit terminal 2 at the sensor and the low reference circuit terminal 25 X2 at the SDM.

* Left Front Side Sensor - Low Reference circuit terminal 1 at the sensor and the low reference circuit terminal 19 X2 at the SDM.

* Right Front Side Sensor - Low Reference circuit terminal 1 at the sensor and the low reference circuit terminal 22 X2 at the SDM.

* Left Rear Side Sensor - Low Reference circuit terminal 2 at the sensor and the low reference circuit terminal 28 X2 at the SDM.

* Right Rear Side Sensor - Low Reference circuit terminal 2 at the sensor and the low reference circuit terminal 29 X2 at the SDM.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance.

5. Test for less then 1 ohm between the appropriate signal circuit terminal at the sensor and the appropriate signal circuit terminal at the SDM:

* Left Front Sensor - Signal circuit terminal 1 at the sensor and the signal circuit terminal 23 X2 at the SDM.

* Right Front End Sensor - Signal circuit terminal 1 at the sensor and the signal circuit terminal 26 X2 at the SDM.

* Left Side Sensor - Signal circuit terminal 2 at the sensor and the signal circuit terminal 20 X2 at the SDM.

* Right Side Sensor - Signal circuit terminal 2 at the sensor and the signal circuit terminal 21 X2 at the SDM.

* Left Rear Side Sensor - Signal circuit terminal 1 at the sensor and the signal circuit terminal 27 X2 at the SDM.

* Right Rear Side Sensor - Signal circuit terminal 1 at the sensor and the signal circuit terminal 30 X2 at the SDM.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance.

6. If all circuits test normal, replace the impact sensor.

7. Clear DTCs and operate the vehicle within the condition for running the DTC. Verify DTC B0083, B0084, B0085, B0086, B0087, or B0088

does not set.

瀚慖f any of the DTCs set, replace the SDM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* SIR/SRS Wiring Repairs (See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Wiring Repairs/SIR/SRS Wiring Repairs)

* Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Replacement (See: Restraints and Safety Systems/Air Bag Systems/Impact Sensor/Service and

Repair/Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Replacement)
