The 2019 Sprinter delivers all kinds of new capabilities, and perhaps its most notable improvements come in the cabin, where buyers can choose between four dashboards and the new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) - the upgraded infotainment system that now offers a color touchscreen and voice commands. 鈥淲ith drier weather forecast for the remainder of the weekend, the focus now shifts to our engineers, who鈥檒l be working hard to analyse the data in order to provide us with the best possible performance platform for tomorrow鈥檚 programme. Mercedes has a future vision of getting more and more innovative technology into its car which will make its cars apart from the other automobile manufacturers. However, because of the amazing stability systems, the vans mostly keep all of their wheels planted and never seem close to getting sloppy, despite their behemoth size. It鈥檚 great for the team to have another one-two, too: that鈥檚 a huge achievement from everybody, but we just need to make sure we keep pushing because the guys behind us won鈥檛 give up. 鈥淚鈥檓 proud of every person in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team - the front row is a good place to be, but the odds are very finely stacked: we鈥檒l have a fight on our hands tomorrow, that鈥檚 for sure. 鈥淚鈥檓 working as hard as I can to have as good a qualifying set-up as my race set-up and I think we鈥檝e got a bit more of an understanding of how the car works on heavy fuel.
But we鈥檝e hopefully got a car that has better race pace than it does qualifying pace. Jenson and Lewis are free to race into the first corner. Stat write-off, front body panels not good, rear including doors and interior are excellent condition. In the same condition as the 4.5L car above, your car will sell for much less, because of the 6 cylinder engine and carbureted induction. As a welcome side-effect the engine warms up more quickly, which reduces wear and fuel consumption. The 220 d has an output of 163 hp and maximum torque of 380 Nm, with fuel economy of 44.8 mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 166 g/km. With a 55kWh quad-pack battery and about 168km range, the eSprinter delivers the same 85kW power output and 300Nm maximum torque as its entry-level diesel equivalent and offer up to 900kg payload capacity. 鈥淭he weather didn鈥檛 help, but it鈥檚 been the same for everyone. 鈥淭he first qualifying session of the year proved to be as tight a competition as we had all hoped for. Lewis did a fantastic first lap in Q3 and Jenson pulled it out of the bag at the very end of the session - both drivers did a fantastic job under huge pressure.
Tomorrow, it鈥檒l be important to get out early in the session and maximise our dry running so that we can work on set-up and make sure our car is in the zone. Unfortunately I didn鈥檛 get the most out of it today. Has three open fuses to add more utilities. 鈥淎n encouraging result for us and more was possible today with Michael 0.034s behind P3 and Nico 0.035s behind P5. The reigning World Champions and clear favourites for this season will be starting behind Michael which shows how surprising Formula One can be. Unfortunately I did not have a lot of grip with the tyres as the formation lap was quite slow and the pressures had gone down which combined with the top speed of the McLarens meant that I could not hold Jenson behind me for long. Instead, in open-top cars, the music flies away with the wind; it frays and breaks up in all directions without its acoustic base - passengers generally have to be satisfied with a woolly 鈥渟ound carpet鈥? or close the roof. Even good car radios and CD players are disappointing under these arduous acoustic conditions. I understand at the front there was quite a bit happening so for the fans, it was a good show.
