2019 Ford Mach E Is Ford's First Electric SUV

2019 Ford Mach E Is Ford's First Electric SUV

11 billion investment into electric and hybrid cars. We already have a confirmation about the new Explorer Hybrid coming in 2020. A year after that one, we will see the 2021 Ford Mach E, or Mach 1. Even the Blue Oval company is not sure yet. But, there is everything you need to know about the upcoming vehicle. First, it will take some Stang鈥檚 credits. The new SUV will be an all-electric. Not a hybrid, not a PHEV. It will go 300 miles in the single charge. The main rival is - Tesla. Ford鈥檚 department that will develop the new Mach E is - Team Edison. In short - the US carmaker is a leader in the market. It is present in all the major segments in the automotive industry. The best-selling model is the Ford F-150 truck, with nearly 1 million sold units per annum. But, Ford is losing the pace with companies developing hybrid and electric vehicles. Toyota already has a few interesting models.

Tesla is untouchable in the all-electric sector. But, not for too long. 11 billion into electrification until 2022. The result should be 40 new hybrid and electric models. We expected to see F-150 truck or Mustang pony car, as the best-known nameplates. But, the 2021 Ford Mach E SUV is not a surprise as well. This segment is growing, and the US company has a representative in each class. The only piece of the puzzle they miss is an electric SUV. And here it is. For a while, we鈥檝e been listening about it, and it is finally coming and it has a name. The 2021 Ford Mach E is probably the biggest project in the recent history of the Blue Oval company. This is the completely new field for all workers, so the carmaker formed the special division to develop the electric SUV. Edison will again compete with Tesla, but two greats didn鈥檛 imagine their inventions could cause the battle in the automotive industry. Tesla is a step ahead, but Team Edison has the best partner it could wish for.

According to the news, Team Edison is already working. Ford鈥檚 chiefs were talking about this department as the cross-functional organization that will accept the new challenge. As said, the new 2021 Ford Mach E will be Mustang-based SUV. Also, we know the company will aim for the 300 miles of range. On the other hand, Team Edison will have a task to beat all rivals in charging time. The new Mach E SUV will offer various recharging methods. Even the solar panels are possible as the additional source of energy gathering. The company states the electric SUV is not coming to compete with the rival companies. The Mach E is there because people need a zero-emission vehicle with excellent performance. The Team Edison will probably come out soon with first details about the vehicle. Well, plans and reality and production are not always the same. But, according to teaser images, the 2021 Ford Mach E will carry Mustang-inspired lights.

However, we would like to know more about its performance. Rear-wheel drive is certain, while the electric SUV is also going to use an AWD. The vehicle is not going to be ready until Ford makes it as reliable as petrol units. So, there is a lot of testing ahead of Mach E electric SUV, including off-road capabilities and hill driving. For this one, the company will bring the whole-new liquid cooling system. The range could go up to 400 miles for the high-end models. The new 2021 Ford Mach E will have a debut next season. We already had a couple of announcements, but we never got to this promise. The SUV is not coming out before 2021, though. Meanwhile, Team Edison will have enough time to build the vehicle that is capable to rival Tesla鈥檚 SUVs. Also, this is just the beginning, since Ford Plans to build more and more electric vehicles. Eventually, by 2030, the US company will have the majority of vehicles with some kind of an electric motor. The first teaser images are there, but these are showing absolutely nothing. Just a logo. An electric logo. According to chiefs, the 2021 Ford Mach E will be affordable. As they say - since the SUV is built for buyers鈥?needs, the price should fit this. Finally, the whole thing is still unofficial, so the company still don鈥檛 know if the SUV should be called Mach E or Mach 1. Either way, Ford is showing its dedication to challenge rivals in another segment.
