2019 Ford Explorer Priced, Manual Transmission Tips, 2019 Ford Mach E
400 more than the outgoing model. Honda last week recalled nearly half a million sedans and crossovers SUVs sold under both its mainstream Honda and its upmarket Acura divisions due to a defective fuel pump. With its 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock, Ram revives an historic name for a special edition of its last-generation pickup truck. While there's a redesigned 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck in dealers, the Warlock package is exclusively available on the old model that was renamed Ram 1500 Classic for the 2019 model year. How to drive a manual transmission? For those who've only ever driven an automatic, a manual transmission can be intimidating. U.S. electric car startup Rivian unveiled a pickup truck and SUV last November at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, but the company is known to be working on additional vehicles, one of which might have just been spotted. Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations team has less to do than initially planned. Land Rover scrapped plans for an ultra-opulent Range Rover SV Coupe in late January, and now we learn that the hardcore Discovery SVX off-roader is no longer headed to production. Grab some of the pony-car attitude and affordability of the Ford Mustang. Put it into a fully electric vehicle that channels some of what makes the Tesla Model 3 Performance so much in demand, versus other EVs. Support it and nurture it.
With the show now just weeks away, we鈥檙e beginning to piece together this year鈥檚 line-up, with Audi, BMW, Ford and MINI planning to release a range of production and concept vehicles. It鈥檚 a modest list for now, but we鈥檒l be updating this page as more debuts emerge. Audi will unveil a production-ready version of its all-electric e-Tron Sportback at LA, following the car鈥檚 lightly camouflaged appearance at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The brand鈥檚 new coupe-SUV will offer a zero-emissions alternative to the BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC, boasting a maximum output of 402bhp and claimed all-electric range of 248 miles. Bollinger, the start-up American EV manufacturer, will publically unveil its new, no-nonsense, all-electric SUV and pick-up truck. Called the B1 and B2 respectively, the firm claims they鈥檙e 鈥渢he world鈥檚 most capable鈥?sports utility vehicles, with both models offering a configurable body shell, class-leading carrying capacity and a 606bhp all-wheel-drive electric powertrain. BMW鈥檚 relentless niche-hunting crusade will continue at LA with a pair of new four-door coupes, respectively tailored towards the entry-level and range-topping regions of the German brand鈥檚 line-up. Both cars have already been unveiled, but the Los Angeles Motor Show will be their first public appearance.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is based on the same front-wheel-drive architecture as the two-door version. It鈥檚 due to arrive in the UK next March, with the base-model sporting the same 138bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and six-speed manual gearbox as the MINI hatch - and a price-tag of around 拢25,000. BMW鈥檚 new M8 Gran Coupe sits will play rival to the latest Porsche Panamera Turbo. The UK will only receive the brand鈥檚 most potent Competition variant, which features a 616bhp twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine, a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds, an electronically limited top speed of 155mph and a price-tag pf 拢120,935. If that asn't enough, the hot BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M SUVs will both be on display. Ford has confirmed it will launch its all-new, all-electric, Mustang-inspired SUV on the LA Motor Show鈥檚 first press day. It will go on sale next year, boasting a maximum WLTP range of 373 miles and exterior styling influenced by the American firm鈥檚 iconic muscle car, sharing its low nose, flared haunches, tri-bar rear light design and lift-back boot-lid. Following its recent sub-eight-minute Nurburgring lap time, MINI鈥檚 latest GP John Cooper Works hot hatch will make its official debut at LA, sporting a 302bhp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and aerodynamically optimised body panels. It鈥檒l go on sale next year, in a limited production run of 3,000 units, priced at 拢34,995.
鈥?It鈥檚 the first time the Mustang name has been used on anything but a muscle car. 鈥?The Mustang Mach-E comes in both rear- and -all-wheel-drive, and can go up to 300 miles on a charge. 鈥?It can add 47 miles of range in just 10 minutes on a high-speed charger. 鈥?A high-performance GT version that goes on sale in 2021 will do 0-60 MPH in less than four seconds. And just like that, the Blue Oval鈥檚 course changed. On Sunday night, Ford unveiled its all-new Mustang Mach-E at an event on Los Angeles, rolling out the electric SUV with the help of new brand ambassador, actor Idris Elba. However, we caught a sneak peek at the new machine earlier this month, when Ford showed it off behind closed doors while detailing its accelerated (but still painstakingly comprehensive) gestation. Work began in earnest in 2017, with the creation of 鈥淭eam Edison,鈥?named after the famous inventor and friend of Henry Ford.
The development involved massive market research and a design process that made use of a new computer-aided design application that allowed for instantaneous alterations on the fly. There are, of course, two key questions here: Is the Mach-E faithful to the Mustang鈥檚 heritage, and is it a decent EV? The answer to the former is complex, and goes to the heart of the challenge. 鈥淭his became a massive point of tension within the company, as you guys can imagine,鈥?said Jason Castriota, Ford鈥檚 brand director for battery-electric vehicles. 鈥淣ot only are we talking about taking the Mustang and putting it into an SUV body style, we鈥檙e also talking a Mustang going electric. So what does that mean? Stylistically, it means the Mach-E echoes the lines of the famed pony car 鈥?currently enjoying enormous popularity and off-the-charts performance, the latter via its 760-hp Shelby GT500 variant 鈥?though it remains obviously a crossover.
