Circuit/System Verification

1. Verify that other DTCs are not set.

瀚慖f any other DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (See: Diagnostic Trouble Code

Descriptions/Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle).

2. Engine idling at operating temperature, observe the appropriate B52 HO2S parameter with a scan tool. Verify the following:

* The B52 HO2S 1 value should vary from below 200 mV to above 800 mV and respond to fueling changes.

* The B52 HO2S 2 value should change greater than 200 mV when the throttle is quickly cycled 3 times from closed to wide open and

back to closed after running the engine at 1,500 RPM for 30 s.

3. Engine idling, observe the scan tool HO2S 1 voltage parameter. The voltage should fluctuate above and below the range of 350-550 mV.

4. Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. DTCs P0133, P013A, and P013E should not set.

5. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the

conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Verify that none of the following conditions exist:

* Lean or rich fuel injectors-Refer to Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test (LAU) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air

Induction/Fuel Injector/Testing and Inspection/Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test)Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test (LF1, LFW) (See:

Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Testing and Inspection/Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test).

* Water intrusion in the HO2S harness connector

* HO2S wiring harness damage

* Incorrect RTV sealant

* Low or high fuel system pressure-Refer to Fuel System Diagnosis (LF1 China) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air

Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel System Diagnosis (China))Fuel System Diagnosis (LF1 Except China) (See:

Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel System Diagnosis (Except China))Fuel

System Diagnosis (LAU China) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel

System Diagnosis (China))Fuel System Diagnosis (LAU Except China) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air

Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel System Diagnosis (Except China)).

* Fuel that is contaminated-Refer to Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis (Special Tool) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery

and Air Induction/Fuel/Testing and Inspection/Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis (Special Tool))Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel

Diagnosis (Without Special Tool) (See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Component

Tests and General Diagnostics/Alcohol/Contaminants-in-Fuel Diagnosis (Without Special Tool)).

* Fuel saturation of the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister

* Exhaust leaks near the HO2S

* Engine vacuum leaks

* Engine oil consumption

* Engine coolant consumption

瀚慖f you find any of the above conditions, repair as necessary.

2. If all conditions test normal, replace the B52 HO2S.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 1 (LAU) (See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Oxygen

Sensor/Service and Repair/Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 1)

* Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 2 (LAU) (See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Oxygen

Sensor/Service and Repair/Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 2)

* Control Module References (See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning) for engine control module replacement, setup, and

programming

P0134

DTC P0131, P0132, or P0134 (Without LF1)

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Diagnostic System

Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an

overview of the diagnostic approach.
