Ford鈥檚 first all-electric Mustang-based crossover is coming on November 17. Before that, however, TFLcar reader Patrick spotted no fewer than three prototypes testing in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It鈥檚 one of the few opportunities we鈥檝e had to see the Mach E in the flesh, and there are a couple clues as to what it looks like, even with all the camouflage. From the front, the hood has a similar curved profile to the Mustang. Despite all the camouflage at the back, it also looks like the roofline curves downward a bit after the C-pillar 鈥?a sign of coupe-like styling. All the masking does conceal most of the interior and some styling cues on the exterior, but the glass area up front also looks similar to the Mustang, as does these cars鈥?side mirrors. So far, we know the Ford Mach E will ride on a bespoke EV platform, despite borrowing its styling cues from the Mustang. Out back there are no exhaust pipes on these prototypes, which is a telltale sign that this is the Mach E. Since this is a crossover, we鈥檒l likely see a dual-motor setup, giving the car all-wheel drive. As for actual performance, we鈥檙e left in the dark for now. The Ford Mach E will supposedly travel at least 300 miles on a charge, which would put it in Tesla territory. Anything else at this point is speculation, though we should know more next month. Stay tuned for more updates! In the meantime, check out Ford鈥檚 latest teaser below.
The Motown rivalry between General Motors and Ford never falters鈥?or does it? After all, The General and The Blue Oval did recently collaborate on developing two transmissions recently. And now, GM Authority spotted a prototype of Ford鈥檚 upcoming electric crossover, believed to be called Mach-E, leaving the GM Milford Proving Ground. Though we didn鈥檛 get enough time to pull out our camera and capture the circumstance, we鈥檙e fully certain that it was the Mach-E prototype (pictured here), making us scratch our heads about what might be happening. According to our sister site, Ford Authority, the Mach-E will be an all-electric, 鈥淢ustang-inspired鈥?crossover that represents Ford鈥檚 first EV CUV to take on the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Hyundai Kona electric. The Mach-E name is a play on the Mustang Mach One moniker. The Mach-E will have a fastback profile and a few Mustang-inspired styling elements. Mechanically, however, the Ford Mach-E will be based on a front-drive platform.
