DTC Descriptors
DTC C0186 55
- Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Expected Number of Transition/Events Exceeded
DTC C0186 5A
- Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Plausibility Failure
DTC C0186 0F
- Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Erratic
DTC C0196 55
- Yaw Rate Circuit Expected Number of Transition/Events Exceeded
DTC C0196 5A
- Yaw Rate Circuit Plausibility Failure
DTC C0196 0F
- Yaw Rate Circuit Erratic
Circuit/System Description
The lateral accelerometer and the yaw rate sensors are combined into one sensor external to the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The
vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) uses the lateral accelerometer input when calculating the desired yaw rate. The EBCM recieves the
yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor data from dedicated serial data circuits.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Ignition ON.
* Ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
* The yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor fails an internal self test.
* The correlation error between the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor and steering angle sensor.
Actions Taken when the DTC Sets
* The EBCM disables the StabiliTrak for the duration of the ignition cycle.
* A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.
Diagnostic Aids
An incorrectly mounted sensor can cause these faults.
