German tuning company MKB offers a fresh new performance package for the German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz's SL 65 Black Series. With 1.015 hp/746 kW, the 2011 MKB Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series P 1000 is the most powerful AMG car because the standard 670 hp is changed while the engine torque is limited to 1,300 Nm. The tuning technology gives this already powerful SL 65 more power. This P 1000 package includes, aside from an enormous engine conversion, an enhanced ECU, bigger turbochargers, high-performance cam-shafts, introductory air intakes and improved cooling system. The 2011 MKB Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series P 1000's automatic transmission has been modified. With these MKB modifications, the SL65 can go in just 3.6 seconds from 0-62 mph; just 8.9 seconds from 0-124 mph; and 21.5 from 0-186 mph. The 2011 MKB Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series P 1000's top speed is increased up to a whooping 230 mph.

Of course Mercedes-Benz wasn鈥檛 going to let everybody else steal the limelight and bowed with the E-class convertible. Based on the new E-class coupe, the convertible looks appropriately restrained in that Mercedes kind of way. This is a very nice car, but missing a dollop of passion. Cadillac鈥檚 debut of the 鈥渃oncept鈥?in name only XTS will replace both the STS and DTS models as the large offering in the automakers lineup. A striking interior, hybrid powertrain technology and the usual Cadillac design cues make this a car that could do very well upon arrival. It will take dead aim at the Mercedes S400 Hybrid and anything else out there in the full-size category. Lastly, let鈥檚 climb the ladder a few rungs so that I can mention Bentley鈥檚 newest flagship, the Mulsanne. I will keep it simple and say that it is everything the top-of-the-line Bentley should be.

Although a month鈥檚 numbers are not quite indicative of a trend reversal, it鈥檚 a breather for the Indian arm of German car maker Daimler AG, which had been losing ground to its younger rival BMW India in the Indian market. Mercedes-Benz and BMW are the market leaders in the foreign luxury car segment. Although the segment is small and accounts for just 2.5% of total cars sold every year in India, it has not deterred new firms from entering the market at regular intervals. Fast lane: BMW India president Peter Kronschnabl says he expects the luxury car segment to register a 20% growth in the Indian market and that new model launches will help expand sales to 8,500-9,000 units. However, both BMW and Audi, as well as others such as Volvo, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, have been present in the Indian market through direct imports. Despite the fewer number of cars sold in July, BMW continues to lead with overall numbers. In 2008, its first full year of operations, Audi, the third German car maker after Mercedes and BMW to enter India, sold 1,050 cars. Sales numbers for Jaguar and Land Rover are unavailable since they were launched in India on 28 July.
