DENZA Unveils All-Electric Show Car At Auto China 2019 In Beijing

DENZA unveiled its new all-electric vehicle show car at Auto China 2012 in Beijing. The battery-driven vehicle that defines a new level of sophistication in the Chinese New Energy Vehicle (NEV) segment is the result of the partnership between BYD and Daimler. Auto China 2012 marks the first appearance of the DENZA brand at a motor show. It is also the first landmark event since the official launch of the brand, which took place in Shenzhen in March this year. The arrival of DENZA marked the first strictly NEV brand in the Chinese market. 鈥淓ven before the birth of DENZA, Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Co., Ltd. 鈥榝irst鈥? When Daimler and BYD made their partnership official in the spring of 2010, they founded the first joint venture in China dedicated solely to New Energy Vehicle. Over 200 engineers and experts from both companies have gathered and combined their strengths at BDNT鈥檚 base in Shenzhen. BYD is providing its expertise in battery technology and e-drive systems, as well as their experience in bringing electric vehicles onto the roads of China. Daimler is contributing more than 125 years of excellence in automotive design and know-how in vehicle architecture, safety and quality.

The concept car unveiled today, a full electric battery-driven model, was designed, and will be built and sold in China. The exterior chrome can be illuminated to provide perfected visibility and safety. It is visually integrated with the battery storage area, which succeeds better than most EVs at keeping the batteries out of passengers鈥?way. Combined with the rear-hinged rear doors, the DENZA concept car is easily accessible, with no awkward battery-related steps to clear while entering or exiting the vehicle. The DENZA booth at Auto China is carefully designed to reflect the strengths of the car, as well as the values of the company. The main feature is a large white ribbon which flows all around the booth, defining its dimensions and the character of the interior. The sense of movement - like a car on the road - is reinforced by the actual movement of the light in the LED strip along its rocker panel. The LED light is the identical blue found in DENZA logo and in the body paint of the car. This 鈥淒ENZA blue鈥?color represents the company鈥檚 twin conceptual foundations of environmental responsibility and cutting-edge technology. China is the home of DENZA because of its potential as an NEV market.

The French Grand Prix this week plays host to the eighth round of the Formula One championship. Lewis Hamilton will arrive at Le Castellet with a 29-point title lead following his controversial win last time out in Canada. Here, Press Association Sport identifies the key talking points ahead of Sunday鈥檚 race. 鈥?Formula 1 (@F1) June 17, 2019 Formula One can be a complicated business. On Sunday night, Ferrari delivered their intention to appeal against Sebastian Vettel鈥檚 five-second penalty which lost him the Canadian Grand Prix. Four days later, the Scuderia informed the FIA they were withdrawing their challenge. Then, on Monday, Ferrari announced they would be exploring Article 14 of the sporting code, the so-called 鈥榬ight to review鈥? which enables them to take on the stewards鈥?verdict if significant new evidence has come to light. Ferrari have refused to divulge in what this new evidence might be. A hearing will now be staged between Ferrari and the FIA, although a date has not been set. 鈥?Formula 1 (@F1) June 16, 2019 Vettel trails Hamilton by a whopping 62 points in the title race, a tally which seemed unthinkable when Ferrari packed down after an impressive pre-season testing. Mercedes are unbeaten from the seven races this year, but Ferrari have had the machinery to win at least three times; Bahrain - Leclerc engine failure; Azerbaijan - Leclerc qualifying crash; Canada - Vettel mistake while leading. Mercedes鈥?two biggest errors of the year - putting Hamilton on the wrong tyres in Monaco and engine setbacks in Canada - have gone unpunished. Vettel might blame the stewards in Canada - his ensuing Montreal meltdown the highlight of the season so far - but in doing so he was only glossing over another mistake from a list which is seriously tarnishing his reputation. He will contest Sunday鈥檚 race without a win in 300 days. Hamilton has triumphed 11 times during that period.
