Right Now You Can Buy A 2019 Buick Encore With A 20 Percent Discount

Why the deep discount? Here’s why.

There was a time not so long ago when the Buick Encore subcompact crossover was the surprise sales success for the premium brand. Considering it’s a heavily rebadged Chevrolet Trax, itself a well-regarded crossover, the Encore brought new customers to Buick despite its price hike over the Chevy. However, Encore sales have hit a slump as of late.

As GM Authority points out, Encore sales were down by 5.88 percent to 21,112 units in the third quarter of this year. By contrast, sales were up by 7.7 percent to 69,747 units in the first nine months of this year. Why the sales drop? There’s no specific reason so far, but Buick isn’t taking any chances as it prepares to close out the year.

As such, the automaker is now offering two very good sales incentives for this month and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them continue for the last two months of 2018, though we have no way of knowing until November and December get underway. Here are the incentives as of this month (October 2018):

? 20 percent below MSRP when financing with GM Financial

- Applies to all Encore models

? 0 percent APR for 72 months + $1,000 cash allowance when financing with GM Financial

- Excludes the base Encore (1SV) models

Buick also provided an example of the 20 percent discount as follows:

? $1,185 price reduction below MSRP + $5,321 Purchase Allowance = $6,506 Below MSRP

Obviously not all customers will qualify and this offer cannot be combined with other special finance, lease, or other offers. But still, 20 percent off is 20 percent off. The base trim Encore (1SV), begins at $23,985 but, as previously noted, this offer does not apply here. It does, however, for the remaining trims, which are as follows and their MSRPs:

? Preferred (1SB) – $25,395

? Sport Touring (1SH) – $26,595

? Preferred II (1SD) – $27,895

? Essence (1SL) – $30,095

? Premium (1SN) – $31,595

The Buick Encore has been on sale in the US since the 2013 model year and was refreshed for 2017. Two turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engines are available, the first is good for 138 hp while the optional one has 153 hp and 20 percent more torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard regardless of engine choice, as is front-wheel-drive. All-wheel drive, however, is optional. Chances a complete redesign is in development but we don’t expect to see it debut for at least another year, possibly two.
