To celebrate the launch of the recently facelifted 2 Series, BMW is launching a new limited edition model. Set to go on sale in July, the BMW M240i M Performance Edition will be limited to just 750 units. Designed to "express the athletic appeal of the compact sport coupe," the M240i M Performance Edition is distinguished by its Alpine White exterior and contrasting carbon fiber components from M Performance Parts. Its athletic look is enhanced with 19-inch alloys fitted with 225/35 R19 tires at the front and 245/30 R19 tires at the rear.
The high-quality double-spoke forged wheels are finished in Orbit Grey, and have a diamond polished visible side. Aerodynamic parts dominate the front of the limited edition sporty coupe, which has been fitted with air guides, splitter and a bumper front section with a matte black spoiler lip. The radiator grille and kidney grille bars are also in black. Adding to its sporty look at the rear is a partly painted diffuser, carbon-fiber rear spoiler and carbon-fiber tailpipe trim with embossed M logo to “underline the motor racing character of this edition model“. The mirror caps and side sill attachments are also coated in carbon fiber.
BMW says these components improve the aerodynamic flow pattern around the car to optimize the handling and performance. Power is sourced from a 340-hp inline-six turbo engine which can be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic. Those who opt for the automatic also have the option of BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system. When equipped, the compact coupe boasts impressive performance, sprinting from 0-62 mph in just 4.4 seconds, making it the fastest 2 Series in the range below the M2. Top speed is limited to 155 mph for each variant.
