As Barrett-Jackson gets ready to open the doors for its 4th Annual Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, June 26-29, here is some useful information to help you navigate the world-famous automotive lifestyle event.
- The entire event runs for four days, from Wednesday, June 26, through Saturday, June 29.
- Wednesday, June 26, is Shell Family Day powered by Pennzoil, when high school students (with proper ID) and younger get in free, and is also Preview Day, when hundreds of cars and automobilia items will be on display for all to see right from the beginning (with many still on-site even after they cross the auction block).
- Automobilia and collector cars begin to roll across the auction block on Thursday, June 27.
- Even if you’re not a huge fan of cars, there is plenty to do and see: a vast marketplace with over 30 exhibitors; interactive displays from more than 40 sponsors; a wealth of dining options within Mohegan Sun; fantastic people-watching (keep your eyes open for celebrities); a car build and car care demonstrations at the DIY Pavilion; and complimentary Behind The Hobby Collector Car Symposiums, where you can learn more about the hobby from panels of experts. New this year is the TechForce STEM Center presented by Shell and powered by Pennzoil, an interactive exhibition featuring hands-on activities that enable students to experience automotive technology, understand the applicability of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in the automotive world and explore industry career paths. Oh, and don’t forget the adrenaline-pumping Ford Hot Laps and Dodge Thrill Rides, which are free with your entry ticket and open to all age 8 (or 48 inches tall) and above! (For a complete schedule, click HERE.)
- Rain in the forecast? Don’t worry! Almost all of the auction site is under cover, with offices, car displays, the exhibitor marketplace and sponsor displays all in 200,000 square feet of the Mohegan Sun Expo Center.
- Wear comfortable shoes! While much of the activity takes place in the Expo Center, you’ll want to also check out the action in the auction arena, directly connected via a tunnel and walking path (shuttles are also available).
- Wheelchairs are available at coat check locations at each of the three Mohegan Sun entrances. For motorized scooter rentals, contact the Mohegan Sun Transportation Services Reservation Center at 888-320-4577.
- Take advantage of advance ticket pricing on Barrett-Jackson.com. Once the event starts on June 26, gate pricing will take effect.
- There is plenty of public parking at Mohegan Sun, with more than 13,000 spaces in several parking garages. All off-site parking shuttles will be dropping off and picking up from the Autumn Bus Lobby (children are welcome). Valet parking is also available, and there are electric vehicle charging stations.
- TV crews from MotorTrend and Discovery will be on-site throughout the event, providing 18 hours of live coverage on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Alert your friends sitting at home – they may spot you on live television! The entire event is also live-streamed on Barrett-Jackson.com – just click “WATCH LIVE NOW” on the home page when the action begins.
- Like most major sporting events, Barrett-Jackson has stepped-up security. Security officers will be checking all bags at the event entrance, and guests will be screened for weapons and contraband. Weapons of any type, video cameras, skateboards, drones, coolers and animals (with the exception of service animals to assist guests with disabilities) are among the prohibited items.
