2007-2011 ALTIMA HYBRID; 12V BATTERY FOR SERVICE



This bulletin was amended to revise the Applied Vehicles section. Please discard all previous copies.



APPLIED VEHICLES: 2007-2011 Altima Hybrid (L32HV)



IF YOU CONFIRM



There is a need to replace the Altima Hybrid Panasonic 12V battery for any reason.

Replace the Panasonic 12V battery with the battery listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Refer to the Service Procedure in this



bulletin.

Refer to the GB section of the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the appropriate claims coding.



IMPORTANT:



The purpose of "ACTION" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service



Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.



SERVICE PROCEDURE



1. Remove the RH trunk side finisher.



2. Disconnect the negative (-) cable first, and then the positive (+) cable.



3. Remove the existing Panasonic battery from the vehicle and disconnect the vent tube as shown in Figure 1.



4. Unpack the Optima service battery and make sure the blind plug is installed securely in the vent hole close to the negative post side as shown



in Figure 2.

5. Install elbow fitting on the positive battery side as shown in Figure 3.



6. Attach the vent tube obtained from step 3. Make sure it is properly seated.



7. Place the Optima battery spacer onto a flat surface as shown in Figure 5.

8. Mount the battery onto the spacer and make sure all the tabs are locked in place.



9. Mount completed assembly in vehicle as shown. Observe post orientation.



10. Insert vent hose into vent hole at least 20 mm or until there is no slack in the vent tube.

11. Secure positive (+) and negative (-) terminals to the battery. Press on terminal while securing to insure proper fit.



CAUTION:



When connecting the new battery, connect the positive (+) cable first and then the negative (-) cable.



12. Create a clearance of at least 10 mm between positive (+) terminal an body ground cable.



13. Cover body ground cable with adhesive backed pad (included in Squeak and Rattle repair kit J-43980).



14. Install the RH trunk side finisher.



15. Re-initialize power windows and sunroof as applicable. See the Electronic Service Manual for details.
